WWE Superstar, hip hop musician and actor, John Cena, has been confirmed to co-host
at Nickelodeon’s Australian Kids’ Choice Awards 2008 on Saturday 11th October at Hisense
Arena, Melbourne Park.
John has been nominated in the Fave Sports Star category at this year’s awards, up against
Aussie sporting legends Casey Stoner and Grant Hackett and American skating genius, Ryan
Sheckler.
Amongst notable achievements in his WWE career, John Cena is a three-time WWE Champion,
a three-time United States Champion, and a two-time World Tag Team Champion. Having
completed his first feature film, The Marine, in 2006, John will also star in 12 Rounds in 2009.
And in the upcoming pay-per-view SummerSlam® on August 18, Cena will be taking on Batista
for the 1st time ever!
Speaking today about his nomination – and presenting duties alongside Australian Kids’ Choice
Awards 2008 host Natalie Bassingthwaighte – John said ‘I couldn’t pass up the awesome
opportunity to present at the Australian KCAs. Especially since I’ll get to hang with my Aussie
fans, hopefully take home an orange blimp and score a SmackDown® by sliming Rove…life doesn’t
get any better. !!’
Voting is now open across a total of 19 categories and with an expanded range of
television categories including Fave International TV Star, Fave Reality Show, Fave Action,
Music, Comedy, Drama Show, this year’s awards promises to be filled with more stars, slime
and messy goo than ever before.
Rove McManus, nominated for Fave TV Star said earlier today about his nomination, “As a
slime connoisseur it is always an honour to be nominated for the KCA. I hope I will be there on
the orange carpet and if I see Andrew G he is going down in a blaze of belches.”
Fave Female Singer of 2007, Ricki-Lee is nominated again this year, ‘”I’m SO flattered and SO,
SO, SO excited to be nominated again in TWO categories for the second year in a row! I
was overseas having a break when I found out I was nominated, and I was on an absolute
high for the rest of the trip – it was THE BEST news I could have been told! Nominated or
not, the Nickelodeon KCA’s is always my fave outing of the year, so to have a chance at
taking an award home only makes the 2008 ceremony all the more FUN!!!!” said Ricki-Lee.
