Final Resolution 2008 had a few high profile matches that lived up to the the hype. The main event and women’s title match alone is worth seeing this event. Plus the storyline of whose side AJ is going to take carried on through the night.
LAX vs. Lance Hoyt & Jimmy Rave
A real good opener that had the crowd going. A nice blend of quick pace wrestling from the smaller guys and the big men delivering their high impact spots. The ending was worked out well revealing Christy Hemme’s stalker as Salinas.
Kaz vs. Black Reign
I didn’t care for the storyline leading up to this. Anything involving Dustin Rhodes I usually have low hopes. But Kaz made this match watchable. He took some hard bumps and they brawled outside the ring. Some decent spots that lead to a good end. Decent match but one of the weak ones.
Womens title No DQ
Gail Kim vs. Awesome Kong
Very brutal for a womens match. The no DQ rule was used to full effect. They rumbled through the stands, chairs came into play plus ko’ed refs. Some very nice counters and Awesome Kong was very impressive in her displays of strength. A real good match that was booked way too early. TNA usually delivers with their womens matches.
Abyss vs. Judas Mesias
The weakest match on the card for me. It started out pretty slow with the usual brawl. And began to pick up. Some weapons came into play and there was some blood. Overall I didn’t care for this one.
Mixed Tag Match
Booker T & Sharmell vs. Robert Roode & Ms. Brooks
This match was mostly telling the very long story between Roode and Brooks. You just know sooner or later they’re going to self destruct. This match was worked out pretty well. It was all Booker and Roode. They put on a pretty good match with Brooks refusing to help out. When the women stepped in it was over pretty quick which was good. The after math was the best part of the match.
Ultimate X Match
Team 3D & Johnny Devine vs. The Motorcity Machineguns & Black Machismo
This match was very funny at times and it was pulled off well. It opened with Bubba on the mic delivering one of his promos which is always something to hear. The match wasn’t the usual X divison match that you normally get. But it had some good spots with Team 3D trying to get the title down. And some additional little things that made the match better.
TNA Tag Title Match
AJ Styles & Tomko vs. Samoa Joe & Kevin Nash
I saw the ending to this coming. The match was really good though. Joe and AJ delivered another one of their outstanding performances. Nash, even though he’s not what he used to be. Didn’t slow the match down. There was a good mix of power moves and counters here. With some decent teamwork. This was one of the best matches.
TNA Heavyweight Title
Kurt Angle vs. Christian Cage
These guys bought they best as usual and they are a big reason to watch TNA ppvs. A really good wrestling match that kept a very good pace. Lots of back and forth with counters and finisher kick outs. The somewhat predictable heel turn added to the match alot.
The event was pretty good and the bonus match makes this DVD even more a must see. That is if you’re a fan of womens wrestling. The rematch between Gail Kim and Awesome Kong was a real good match, with a brutal finish. Not as good as the No DQ but very watchable. I think this DVD is worth buying.
