SD Fusion: Big Show Of Survival

by Firefly on 25th March 2013

The 22nd March 2013 episode of Friday Night SmackDown starts with a video recapping the events of Monday Night Raw involving Jack Swagger and Alberto Del Rio, along with the events involving The Shield, The Big Show, Sheamus, and Randy Orton (click here for our Raw report), and hyping the possible ramifications to come on this episode of SmackDown, followed by The Miz presenting “Miz TV” to kick off the show.

The Miz introduces his guests Randy Orton and Sheamus, where both comment that they don’t trust The Big Show, but they need to do what they must to survive against The Shield – so they want Show on their side.

Show is brought out too and he talks about how he knocked out one of the members of The Shield, and how he can’t stand Orton or Sheamus either, but that if they work together, not even The Shield can stop them.

Sheamus asks The Big Show what is to stop him from leaving them hanging when they need him most, leaving Orton to become the voice of reason, much to The Miz’s amusement. Booker T’s music hits to interrupt further discussion, as he makes his way out onto the stage.

Booker T sees that he needs to see if Show, Orton, and Sheamus can get along and as a result, they will team up for a Six-Man Tag Team match to take place later on in the episode.

After hyping the WrestleMania match between Ryback and Mark Henry, Mark Henry takes on “Long Island Iced Z” Zack Ryder in a match which sees Henry get the victory, when he hits Ryder with a World’s Strongest Slam for the 3-count.

Afterwards, he retaliates against Ryback’s message from Raw by sending a message of his own, as he hits Ryder with two more World’s Strongest Slams. Ryback’s music hits interrupting further occurrences, and he makes his way to the ring, standing across from Henry.

Henry yells at Ryback that he owns him and will destroy him, but when he runs right at him, he is met with a meat-hook clothesline by Ryback, prompting him to roll out of the ring afterwards.

After an interaction backstage involving Teddy Long and Booker T, and repeating the video from Raw of Booker T being announced as the next inductee of the 2013 WWE Hall Of Fame class, AJ Lee joins commentary as Dolph Ziggler (accompanied by Big E Langston) is pitted against Kofi Kingston.

The match which sees Ziggler get the victory, when he hits Kingston with a Zig-Zag for the 3-count. Afterwards, Big E Langston picks up the prone Kingston and hits him with the Big Ending.

After a video recapping the confrontation between Chris Jericho and Fandango on Raw, a video recapping the events involving The Undertaker and CM Punk on Raw, an interaction backstage involving Randy Orton, Sheamus, and The Big Show, and a video recapping the events of Raw involving Jack Swagger’s attack on Ricardo Rodriguez on Raw, Jack Swagger (accompanied by Zeb Colter) goes against Chris Jericho.

The match sees Swagger get the victory, when he takes advantage of the interference by Fandango behind the back of the referee, and hits Jericho with a Swagger Bomb for the 3-count. Afterwards, Fandango continues his attack on Jericho, finishing it with a diving leg drop and grabbing a microphone to inform Jericho just how to pronounce his name properly.

After Matt Striker interviews The Big Show about teaming with Randy Orton and Sheamus, a video hyping the match between The Rock and John Cena at WrestleMania 29, and hyping The Rock’s appearance on the upcoming episode of Monday Night Raw, “Team Rhodes Scholars” Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow (accompanied by the “Bella Twins” Nikki and Brie) take on Tensai and “Funkasaurus” Brodus Clay (accompanied by the “Funkadactyls” Naomi and Cameron) in a Tag Team match.

The match sees the referee call for the bell after things degenerate on the outside of the ring between the Bella Twins and the Funkadactyls, as both teams attempt to separate the women.

After Matt Striker interviews Randy Orton and Sheamus about their upcoming match, Wade Barrett joins commentary as Antonio Cesaro is pitted against The Miz in a match which sees The Miz get the victory, when he applies the Figure-Four Leg Lock to Cesaro, forcing him to tap out.

Afterwards, The Miz sends a message to Barrett by applying the Figure-Four to Cesaro once again, with Barrett’s response being to raise the Intercontinental Championship aloft and walk away.

After a video recapping the events of Raw involving Triple H, Paul Heyman, and Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton, Sheamus, and The Big Show go against “3MB” Heath Slater, Drew McIntyre, and Jinder Mahal in a Six-Man Tag Team match.

The match sees Sheamus get the victory for his team, when he hits Mahal with a Brogue Kick for the 3-count. Afterwards, a confrontation erupts between Sheamus, Show, and Orton, which is made worse when The Shield’s music hits and they start making their way towards the ring through the crowd.

By the time The Shield reach the ring however, the focus of the men in the ring is firmly on the threat The Shield poses, prompting them to re-evaluate their plan of attack, and once again retreat through the crowd as SmackDown goes off the air.
