PPV Fusion: SummerSlam 2013
The 2013 WWE SummerSlam Pay-Per-View starts with Justin Roberts introducing The Miz as the Host of SummerSlam, followed by The Miz welcoming us and talking about the matches to take place later on, before being interrupted by Fandango and Summer Rae dancing around him.
After “Total Divas” cast member JoJo sings the American National Anthem, Kane takes on Bray Wyatt (accompanied by the rest of the Wyatt Family, Harper and Rowan) in a match which sees Wyatt get the victory, when Harper and Rowan interfere after dampening one side of the ring with a blanket to allow them to enter it, and Wyatt hits a swinging-reverse STO for the 3-count.
Afterwards, Harper and Rowan slam the ring steps together with Kane’s head being in between, as Bray Wyatt watches on, after which the Wyatt Family leave and drag Kane away with them.
After a video hyping the 29th October release of WWE 2K14, the WWE SummerSlam Panel – consisting of Josh Mathews, Vickie Guerrero, and WWE Hall of Famers Booker T and Shawn Michaels – talking about the match that just took place, and a video recapping Paul Heyman’s announcement on the Kickoff show that the match between Brock Lesnar and CM Punk will be No Disqualification, Cody Rhodes is pitted against Damien Sandow.
The match sees Rhodes get the victory, when he hits Sandow with Cross-Rhodes for the 3-count.
After a video recapping Christian’s career highlights up until now, Christian goes against Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship in a match which sees Del Rio get the victory and retain his title, when he applies the Cross-Armbreaker to Christian and forces him to tap out.
Afterwards, Del Rio brags about his victory and talks about how people need somebody to look up to, and claims that person is him.
After a video recapping the match at SummerSlam Axxess between the team of Natalya and Maria Menounos and the team of Brie Bella and “Total Divas” cast member Eva Marie, a backstage interaction which sees The Miz’s interview with Maria Menounos interrupted by Fandango and Summer Rae again, prompting The Miz and Maria to do some dancing of their own, and a video hyping the “Total Divas” show, Natalya (accompanied by “Funkadactyls” Cameron and Naomi) takes on Brie Bella (accompanied by Nikki Bella and Eva Marie).
The match sees Natalya get the victory, when she hits Brie with an Alabama Slam, and follows it up by putting Brie in the Sharpshooter, forcing her to tap out.
After a video recapping Ryback bullying one of the catering staff backstage earlier in the day, and a video recapping the events involving Brock Lesnar, CM Punk, and Paul Heyman that led to the upcoming match, Brock Lesnar (accompanied by Paul Heyman) is pitted against CM Punk.
The match sees Lesnar get the victory, when he hits Punk with an F-5 onto a steel chair for the 3-count.
After a video hyping that the next WWE Pay-Per-View will be Night Of Champions on 15th September, and a video recapping a fan taking up a challenge of receiving a splash from Mark Henry at SummerSlam Axxess, the aforementioned fan and others watch on from in front of the Announcers’ table as Dolph Ziggler and Kaitlyn go against Big E Langston and AJ Lee in a Mixed Tag Team match.
The match sees Ziggler get the victory for his team, when he counters Langston’s Big Ending attempt and hits him with a Zig-Zag for the 3-count.
After another video hyping WWE 2K14, another confrontation involving The Miz being interrupted by Fandango and Summer Rae backstage, prompting The Miz to knock Fandango down with a left hand, more comments from the SummerSlam Panel on the matches that took place and have yet to come, and a video recapping the events involving John Cena, Daniel Bryan, Vince McMahon, and Triple H that led to the upcoming match, John Cena takes on Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship, with Triple H serving as the Special Guest Referee.
The match sees Bryan get the victory to become the new WWE Champion, when he hits Cena with a running knee strike to the head for the 3-count. Afterwards, Bryan celebrates his victory before he is interrupted by John Cena climbing to his feet and showing him respect, before leaving Bryan to celebrate further.
The celebration is halted by Randy Orton’s music hitting and him making his way to the ring, but it appears that Orton is just sending a reminder that he is around as he simply lifts the briefcase aloft and then starts to walk away again.
Orton pauses a few steps up the ramp however, and turns back around, at which point Triple H hits Daniel Bryan with a Pedigree and Orton then heads back to the ring, enters it, and hands the briefcase to Triple H.
Triple H makes the Money In The Bank cash-in official as he rings the bell, and Orton simply covers Bryan for the 3-count which Triple H administers as the referee once again, allowing Orton to become the new WWE Champion.
Randy Orton and Triple H celebrate in the ring, as SummerSlam goes off the air.
