by Firefly on 5th May 2014

The 2014 WWE Extreme Rules Pay-Per-View starts with a video recapping the events that led to the upcoming match, followed by Rob Van Dam, Jack Swagger (accompanied by Zeb Colter), and Cesaro (accompanied by Paul Heyman) facing each other in a Triple Threat match to kick things off.

The match sees Cesaro get the victory, when he avoids RVD’s Five Star Frog Splash which instead hits a trash can, and follows it up by hitting RVD with the Neutralizer onto the trash can for the 3-count.

After an interaction backstage involving Stephanie McMahon and Daniel Bryan, Alexander Rusev (accompanied by Lana) is pitted against R-Truth and Xavier Woods in a 2-on-1 Handicap match which sees Rusev get the victory, when he applies a camel clutch (which Cole informs us is called “The Accolade” by Rusev) to R-Truth, forcing him to tap out.

Afterwards, Rusev sends another message about his dominance by heeding Lana’s instructions to crush Woods, by hitting Woods with a fall-away slam outside the ring.

After Renee Young interviews Evolution about their upcoming match, Bad News Barrett goes against Big E for the Intercontinental Championship in a match which sees him get the victory to become the new Intercontinental Champion, as he hits Big E with the Bullhammer Elbow for the 3-count.

After a video recapping the events that led to the upcoming match, “Evolution” Triple H, Batista and Randy Orton take on “The Shield” Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns in a Six-Man Tag Team match.

The match sees Reigns get the victory for his team, when he hits Batista with a spear for the 3-count.

After a video recapping the events that led to the upcoming match, John Cena is pitted against Bray Wyatt (accompanied by “Wyatt Family” members Erick Rowan and Luke Harper) in a Cage match which sees Wyatt get the victory, when he takes advantage of the distraction provided by a kid’s creepy slow-motion rendition of “The Whole World In His Hands”, when he hits Cena with Sister Abigail and exits the cage door to win the match by Escape.

After checking in with the Extreme Rules Panel (comprised of Josh Mathews, Booker T, Sheamus and Alex Riley), Tamina Snuka goes against Paige for the Divas Championship in a match which sees Paige get the victory to retain her title, when she applies the Scorpion Cross Lock (a combination of an inverted sharpshooter and double chickenwing) to Tamina, forcing her to tap out.

After an interaction backstage involving The Wyatt Family and the kid from earlier (who Bray Wyatt identifies as “Little Johnny”), and a video recapping the events that led to the upcoming match, Daniel Bryan takes on Kane in an Extreme Rules match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

The match sees Bryan get the victory and retain his title, when upon Kane’s re-entry to the ring after going through a flaming table, he hits Kane with the running-knee for the 3-count.

Bryan’s celebration as he walks towards the entrance is abruptly cut off, when Kane gets back up and sets off both his ring and entrance pyro, with his music being the one left playing as Extreme Rules goes off the air.
