by Firefly on 30th March 2015

The WWE WrestleMania 31 Pay-Per-View starts with Aloe Blacc singing “America The Beautiful”, followed by pyro and a video of LL Cool J speaking while clips from past WrestleManias are shown.

The first match to kick things off is Daniel Bryan, Bad News Barrett, Dolph Ziggler, Stardust, Luke Harper, R-Truth and Dean Ambrose in a Ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship.

The match sees Daniel Bryan and Dolph Ziggler exchanging headbutts on top of the ladder, until a more forceful one from Bryan sends Ziggler off the ladder and allows Bryan to pull down the title to become the new Intercontinental Champion.

After a video recapping the events that led to the upcoming match, Seth Rollins (accompanied by Joey Mercury & Jamie Noble) is pitted against Randy Orton in a match which sees Orton get the victory, when he counters a curb stomp attempt into a catching RKO for the 3-count.

After a video recapping the events that led to the upcoming match, Sting goes against Triple H in a match which sees Sting’s entrance involve oriental drumming, and Triple H’s being Terminator-themed, with the match itself seeing run-ins from both DX (X-Pac, Road Dogg, Billy Gunn and Shawn Michaels) and the nWo (Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Hulk Hogan).

Triple H gets the victory, when counters Sting’s run towards him for a possible second Stinger Splash by hitting him in the head with the sledgehammer for the 3-count. Afterwards, Triple H and Sting face off in the ring with DX and the nWo behind them respectively, when Triple H extends his hand towards Sting for a handshake, which Sting accepts and does so.

After a video hyping some of the new shows coming to the WWE Network, and an interaction backstage involving Daniel Bryan, Pat Patterson, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, “Nature Boy” Ric Flair, Bret “The Hitman” Hart and Ron Simmons, it’s time for the musical performances involving Kid Ink, Skylar Grey and Travis Barker.

Next, AJ Lee and Paige take on “The Bella Twins” Nikki and Brie Bella in a Tag Team match which sees AJ get the victory for her team, when Paige sends Brie into the steel steps as AJ applies the Black Widow to Nikki and leaves her with no other option but to tap out.

After a video recapping the 2015 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony, the presentation of the inductees, and a video recapping the events that led to the upcoming match, Rusev (accompanied by Lana) is pitted against John Cena in a match which sees Rusev’s entrance involve him riding in on a tank, and John Cena’s entrance sees fans clearly singing “John Cena sucks” in time to his music as he comes out.

The match itself sees Cena get the victory, when Rusev accidentally knock Lana off the ring apron when Cena moves out of the way, and Cena follow it up by hitting him with the Attitude Adjustment for the 3-count to become the new United States Champion.

After a video hyping WrestleMania 32 on 3rd April 2016, checking in the WrestleMania Panel (comprised of Renee Young, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T, Corey Graves and Byron Saxton), videos recap the Kickoff matches of the WWE Tag Team Championship Fatal 4-Way which saw Tyson Kidd and Cesaro retain their titles, and the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal which saw Damien Mizdow eliminate The Miz, and The Big Show win after eliminating Mizdow.

Now, Lilian Garcia introduces “The Authority” Stephanie McMahon and Triple H who are already in the ring, and they talk about this setting a new attendance record and how things have grown over the years being thanks to Stephanie and Triple H, that they feel that they have beaten everyone who has ever been against them, and that they own everybody.

The Rock’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring and talks about how he was born in the East Bay, and that Stephanie and Triple H don’t own them, so he suggests that there are now two choices; that Triple H can go back and dress up like a Terminator again, or that they create a WrestleMania moment right there and now.

The Authority are not amenable to the idea however, and Stephanie says that there would be no Rock without the McMahons. She slaps The Rock and taunts him about how he won’t hit her as she then orders him to get out.

He does indeed exit the ring, but he instead walks around to ringside to stand in front of the area where UFC fighter Ronda Rousey is (wearing a Dragonball Z t-shirt saying “Over 9000!”). as the crowd chant Rousey’s name and cheer in approval.

After The Rock motions to her, Ronda Rousey jumps over the barricade and gets into the ring with him to face off against The Authority, prompting more chants from the crowd of “holy shit” and “Ronda’s gonna kill you”. Ronda is ordered to get out of “Stephanie’s ring”, which prompts a reply from Ronda that any ring she steps into is Ronda’s, and that if Stephanie wants her to leave then she should make her.

A series of right hands from The Rock rocks Triple H, and Ronda follows it up by taking Triple H down with a judo throw, after which Stephanie attempts to slap Ronda. Ronda catches her arm and holds her in a grip that allows her to throw Stephanie around like a ragdoll, with a shove to the floor prompting Stephanie to bail out of the ring and back up towards the ramp just like Triple H. The Rock tells The Authority that what just happened is called being owned, if they smell what “The Rock and Ronda” is cooking!

Next up, Bray Wyatt goes against The Undertaker in a match which sees Wyatt’s entrance involving walking scarecrows, but the match itself see The Undertaker get the victory, when The Undertaker counters Wyatt’s Sister Abigail attempt and hits him with the Tombstone Piledriver for the 3-count.

After a video recapping the events that led to the upcoming match, Roman Reigns takes on Brock Lesnar (accompanied by Paul Heyman) for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, with Reigns’ entrance seeing him walk through the crowd surrounded by security and shoving a few people away, and Brock Lesnar’s first pyro seemingly delayed before it goes off but still looking good.

The match sees Lesnar hit Reigns with a German suplex and an F-5 shortly after it starts, but he doesn’t follow it up by pinning him. Lesnar later gets busted open, though not before giving Reigns several more suplexes.

Lesnar hits Reigns with a third F-5, but he kicks out again. Reigns hits Lesnar with 3 Superman punches to knock him down and follows it up with 2 spears, but Lesnar kicks out. Lesnar catches Reigns and hits him with a fourth F-5, but isn’t able to capitalise on it as he’s wiped out.

Seth Rollins’ music hits and he runs to the ring, where he cashes in his Money In The Bank contract to turn it into a Triple Threat match. Rollins pushes Reigns out of the ring and follows it up with a curb stomp to Lesnar. After checking that Reigns is still unlikely to get back up, he goes for another curb stomp on Lesnar, only for Lesnar to counter it to put him into position for an F-5.

When Lesnar turns around however, Reigns is suddenly back in the ring and thwarts it by hitting Lesnar with a spear, which Rollins follows up by hitting a curb stomp to Reigns as Lesnar rolls onto the floor outside the ring.

Rollins gets the victory when he covers Reigns for the 3-count, to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Afterwards, Seth Rollins celebrates on the stage, while the crowd goes wild and pyro goes off to complement it, as WrestleMania goes off the air.
