Former WWE star to appear at Eldon pro wrestling event Sept. 19

Former WWE star Trevor Murdoch will appear at a World League Wrestling event 7 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Eldon Community Center.

Murdoch, who lives in Eldon, went through the Harley Race Wrestling Academy and wrestled for Race’s World League Wrestling before taking a job with World Wrestling Entertainment in 2005. During his threeyear stint with the WWE, he wrestled some of the WWE’s biggest names, including Ric Flair, Snitsky, The Hardys and John Cena.

Murdoch portrayed an angry hillbilly character who sometimes sang country music in the ring.

During his time with the WWE, he became a world tagteam champion on two occasions.

His contract with the WWE ended in July, and he has since been wrestling with the National Wrestling Alliance.

Murdoch will headline the event with Marufugi and Morishima of Japan’s Prowrestling Noah.

Advance tickets are $10 for general admission and $15 for ringside seats. They can be bought at the Eager Beaver, WLW Headquarters, Eldon Family Fitness Center or the Eldon City Hall.

Part of the proceeds will benefit the Eldon Noble Eagles. For more information, call World League Wrestling at (573) 392-4100.

Want To Be A Wrestler Heres Your Chance:

If you’ve ever dreamed of becoming a professional wrestler, here’s your chance. The 2008 Harley Race/Pro Wrestling NOAH Camp will be held from Sept. 15-19. So what’s the price of fame? It’s a flat $3,000. Oh, and pain – not fame – is the only thing guaranteed. The training is intense, but if you’ve got what it takes, a World Wrestling Entertainment scout will be there to discover any new talent.

Former wrestling star Ricky “The Steamboat” Dragon now scouts for the WWE and will be at the camp all week. For more information, call (573) 392-4100.
