PPV Fusion: Battleground 2017

The 2017 WWE Battleground Pay-Per-View starts with a video hyping the matches to take place during the night, followed by “The New Day” Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods (accompanied by third member, Big E) taking on “The Usos” Jimmy and Jey in a match for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship.

The match sees Xavier Woods get the victory for his team, when Kingston hits Jimmy Uso with Trouble In Paradise and Xavier Woods follows it up with a springboard elbow drop for the 3-count, for The New Day to become the new SmackDown Tag Team Champions.

After a video promoting the events available on WWE Network, and a video recapping the events that led to the upcoming match, Shinsuke Nakamura is pitted against Baron Corbin in a match which sees Nakamura get the victory as a result of a disqualification, when Corbin counters a move attempt by hitting Nakamura with a low blow in full view of the referee, thus giving the referee no other choice but to call for the bell.

Afterwards, Baron Corbin hits Shinsuke Nakamura with the Money In The Bank briefcase and follows it up with the End of Days before leaving.

After a video hyping the next WWE Pay-Per-View, the dual-branded SummerSlam on 20th August, and a video recapping the events that led to the upcoming match, SmackDown Women’s Champion Naomi joins commentary as Becky Lynch, Tamina, Natalya, Lana and Charlotte Flair face each other in a Fatal 5-Way Elimination match to determine the #1 Contender to face Naomi for the title at SummerSlam.

The match sees Natalya get the victory, when she counters Charlotte’s moonsault attempt with her knees and follows it up with a roll-up that sends Charlotte’s head bouncing off the bottom turnbuckle, before Natayla covers Charlotte for the 3-count and to become the #1 Contender and Naomi’s opponent for SummerSlam.

Afterwards, Naomi enters the ring and extends her hand in congratulations, but Natalya snubs the attempt as she exits the ring and walks away instead.

After a video recapping the events that led to the upcoming match, Kevin Owens goes against AJ Styles in a match for the United States Championship, which sees Owens get the victory when he reverses Styles’ crossface submission into a pin for the 3-count and to become the new United States Champion.

After a backstage interaction involving Jinder Mahal and The Singh Brothers, and a video recapping the events that led to the upcoming match, Rusev takes on John Cena in a Flag match which sees Cena get the victory, when he hits Rusev with an Attitude Adjustment through a table and follows it up by slotting the U.S. Flag into the slot on the podium.

After a repeat of the video hyping SummerSlam, a “Fashion X-Files” segment with Tyler Breeze and Fandango, and a video recapping the events that led to the upcoming match, Mike Kanellis (accompanied by his wife, Maria) is pitted against Sami Zayn in a match which sees Zayn get the victory, when he hits Mike Kanellis with the Helluva Kick for the 3-count.

After a video promoting the Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital release of the movie “Pure Country, Pure Heart” which stars WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels, and a video recapping the events that led to the upcoming match, Jinder Mahal is pitted against Randy Orton in a Punjabi Prison match for the WWE Championship, which sees Mahal get the victory and retain his title, when he takes advantage of Orton being held by The Great Khali (in a surprise appearance/return) and escapes the structure.
