The 11th February 2011 episode of Friday Night SmackDown! starts with a video recapping the events of last week involving Kelly Kelly, Vickie Guerrero, Lay-Cool, Edge, and Dolph Ziggler in which though she won the match and retained Edge’s title, she was then fired by Vickie, who then announced that this episode would put Ziggler and Edge in a rematch with Vickie as the Special Guest Referee.

After a video recapping the events between Alberto Del Rio and Kofi Kingston last week, Alberto Del Rio makes his way to the ring in which something is set up with balloons and a stand upon which Ricardo Rodriguez places a heart which turns out to have a picture of the word “destiny” and then one of himself.

He says that he loves his cars and the fact that the six Superstars hoping to face him at WrestleMania will be in the Elimination Chamber, but what he loves the most is Destiny – which he says that he loves because Destiny loves him. With the Super Bowl Champions in attendance, he says that Aaron Rodgers may have won the Super Bowl, but unlike him he doesn’t need to pretend that he’s a World Heavyweight Champion as that is his destiny at WrestleMania.

Kofi Kingston music hits and he starts walking towards the ring as he says that Del Rio talks about destiny and the future as if he knows something the rest of us don’t, but what he does know is about the past as he remembers being beaten with a Kendo stick last week.

He says that “this” is Del Rio’s destiny as he grabs a Kendo stick from underneath the ring and enters the ring and threatens to hit a begging Del Rio with it. It appears that Del Rio has managed to talk him out of it as he lowers it, but he quickly starts hitting him with it, making Del Rio bail out of the ring as Kingston then takes his anger out by taking apart the set in the ring.

We find out that as a result of the events that just took place, Del Rio is going to take on Kingston right now. Del Rio gets the victory after Kingston is forced to tap out to the Cross-Armbreaker, though it takes a few moments before Del Rio relinquishes the hold.

Going backstage, Todd Grisham interviews Edge and asks if he thinks that Vickie will call the match fairly later on, to which Edge sarcastically says yes and then suggests that the three of them will then go out for a Valentines dinner to celebrate, before stating that’s when pigs fly – and that Vickie on an aeroplane doesn’t count. Kidding aside however, Edge says that he honestly has no idea how he will retain his title.

Next, Vladimir Kozlov (accompanied by Santino Marella) is pitted against Justin Gabriel (accompanied by the other three members of The Corre) in a match which sees Gabriel hit the 450-Splash for the 3-count. Afterwards, Wade Barrett hits Marella with The Wastelands and Ezekiel Jackson hits Kozlov with the Book of Ezekiel before The Corre stand tall in celebration.

Next up, Chris Masters goes against Drew McIntyre in a match which sees McIntyre first grab a microphone and say that as far as he is concerned, Edge is solely responsible for Kelly Kelly being fired last week and that he won’t forget that. Addressing Kelly, he says that he knows she’s watching so this is for her. The match ends with McIntyre countering the backslide struggle into the Future-Shock DDT for the 3-count.

After a video recapping the events between Rey Mysterio and “Dashing” Cody Rhodes last month in which Mysterio broke Rhodes’ nose and the announcers telling us that Rhodes has had successful re-constructive facial surgery, Grisham catches up with Mysterio backstage on his way towards the ring.

He asks Mysterio if he has any words for Rhodes, to which he asks why he would have anything to say to Rhodes as it was just a broken nose and he certainly didn’t do it intentionally. He says that as a WWE Superstar you know that injuries are a part of the game and can happen during the course of a match, but adopting a fake sombre expression, he says that he hopes that Rhodes finds the strength and guts to make it through this difficult time.

Mysterio says the bottom line is that his focus is on winning against Barrett in the upcoming match and winning the Elimination Chamber to become the new World Heavyweight Champion.

Back in the arena, Barrett makes his way to the ring ready for the upcoming match against Mysterio and says that in less than two weeks he will be representing The Corre in SmackDown!’s Elimination Chamber, but to make no mistake as it does not mean that he is better than any other member of The Corre as they are all equals, what it does mean is that he will be going to WrestleMania as the World Heavyweight Champion.

The match ends with Barrett taking advantage of Justin Gabriel’s distraction to hit a big boot on Mysterio and follow it up with The Wastelands for the victory. Afterwards, The Corre attack Mysterio and are about to have Gabriel hit the 450-Splash when The Big Show’s music hits and he runs to the ring to make the save, dominating against them until Ezekiel Jackson’s power helps the tide turn and them end up leaving The Big Show down in the ring as they stand tall.

Now, JTG takes on Kane in a match which sees Kane hit the chokeslam for the 3-count. Going backstage, Lay-Cool talk about the Fatal Four Way match at the Royal Rumble in which Eve won the Divas Championship despite Michelle McCool pinning Natalya at the same time.

Vickie interrupts them and says that they disappointed her last week and she guesses she thought too highly of them, so it seems that if she wants something done right, she has to do it herself, which is why she is the Special Guest Referee in Dolph Ziggler’s title match later on against Edge.

Ziggler asks why Vickie is talking to “this loser”, with him clarifying Layla when she asks who he’s calling a loser, as he says that she cost him his World Heavyweight Championship last week. As Ziggler and Vickie walk away, Layla sarcastically thanks Michelle for helping out as she never said anything to defend her.

In the arena again, Layla (accompanied by Michelle) is pitted against Eve in a match which sees Layla loser another match as Eve counters a pin attempt into one of her own for the 3-count.

Next, it’s time for the World Heavyweight Championship match with Edge going against Dolph Ziggler in a match with Vickie Guerrero as the Special Guest Referee, with Vickie specifying one more that the Spear is banned and if Edge uses it he will lose the title. Towards the end of the match, Vickie attempts to hit Edge with a Spear but ends up just bouncing off him instead and appearing to have injured her ankle in doing so.

As she has it looked at by the Doctor outside the ring Edge hits a Spear behind her back, but there is obviously nobody to count the cover. Despite Vickie now facing towards the ring, Edge hits Ziggler with the Spear in full view of her and then keeps calling for another referee.

Green Bay Packers’ Clay Matthews comes out onto the stage wearing a referee shirt, before running down to the ring and counting the 3-count to declare Edge as the winner, therefore retaining his title.

Edge and Matthews celebrate in the ring with their respective World Heavyweight Championship belts, with Vickie trying to wave off the decision as SmackDown! goes off the air.
