SD Fusion: Number One Contender
The 27th May edition of SmackDown! on Syfy opened with World Heavyweight Champion, “The Viper” Randy Orton making his way down to the ring. Orton talks about how he is still the World Champion following Over the Limit but is soon cut off by the familiar theme music of “Captain Charisma” Christian, who says that he doesn’t want to ruin his moment, but Sunday was one of the best matches of his entire career and wanted to thank Randy.
He says that Orton deserves the title, but he knows he can beat him and he wants another opportunity to do so in a World Heavyweight Championship match. Out comes “The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus, who tells Christian he is like a sad and pathetic gambling addict who is now betting with his kids college fund. He says that it took Christian 17 years to win his first World Title and it’ll take him 17 years to win another, Sheamus says he is a two-time WWE Champion and came to Smackdown to have epic matches with the likes of Randy Orton and he deserves to be the number one contender.
Mark Henry is next out, he tells Christian that Edge is waiting on a retirement golf course for him and he shouldn’t miss his tee time. Henry says that when you’re the strongest man in the world, you don’t have to wait in lines and therefore he should be next to face Orton. Teddy Long interrupts as ever and says that for once, he agrees with Sheamus and Henry; Christian has already had his shot. However he then says it’s about what the people want and asks them if they want to see Christian get another shot, they of course respond positively but Long says he still has to earn it and then makes a Triple Threat match for later in the evening, with Christian facing Mark Henry and Sheamus and the winner getting Randy Orton.
Sin Cara defeated Chavo Guerrero following a headscissors faceplant.
Cody Rhodes is out and announces that if he didn’t know better, he would think there is no God, he has hoped and prayed to see an attractive person here tonight but it isn’t happening. He instructs his “baggers” to hand out the paper bags to the audience before his upcoming match against Daniel Bryan.

Kane defeated The Great Khali with a top rope clothesline.
Jinder Mahal (complete with his own theme music) came to the ring following the match and talks trash to Khali again before slapping him.
