Raw Fusion: Muppet Mania

by Firefly on 1st November 2011

The 31st October 2011 episode of Monday Night Raw starts with a video of The Rock from earlier in the day addressing John Cena’s invitation to be his tag team partner at Survivor Series, and though The Rock initially says no, he clarifies that he thought about it and that the fans want him to, so he will do so for them.

Next, CM Punk takes on Mark Henry in a match that if Punk wins, he will get his WWE Championship match against Alberto Del Rio at Survivor Series. The match ends with Henry getting the victory as a result of a disqualification, due to Del Rio sending Ricardo Rodriguez in to attack Henry with his shoe.

Afterwards, Punk is understandably not very happy with Del Rio, and knocks him down with a suicide dive, before having to turn his attention to Rodriguez, whose presence distracts Punk enough for Del Rio to escape. CM Punk throws Rodriguez into the ring, only for Rodriguez to receive a World’s Strongest Slam from Mark Henry.

Now, Miss Piggy and Kermit The Frog of The Muppets make their presence known on the show, but rather quickly they are interrupted by Vickie Guerrero and Jack Swagger. Kermit mistakes Vickie for Swagger’s mother, causing a face-off between Vickie and Miss Piggy until Santino Marella’s music hits and he comes out to the stage too.

Marella suggests that Swagger should be warming up instead of insulting any of The Muppets, because he has been informed by John “Laryngitis” that Swagger will be facing Marella later on. Jack Swagger says that he’ll have Dolph Ziggler in his corner, but Marella says that Ziggler has his own match on this episode of Raw too – against Zack Ryder, prompting Miss Piggy and Kermit to utter Ryder’s catchphrase “Woo Woo Woo, You Know It!”

Kelly Kelly’s music hits and she kisses Kermit The Frog before making her way to the ring, much to Miss Piggy’s consternation. A Divas Costume Battle Royal to determine the number one contender to the Divas Championship takes place pitting Eve (as Robin), Rosa Mendes (as a Cavewoman), A.J (as Mortal Kombat’s Kitana), Aksana (as Morticia Adams), Alicia Fox (as a sailor), Kaitlyn (as Dog The Bounty Hunter), The Bella Twins (as Mario and Luigi), Natalya (as the Queen Of Hearts), and Tamina (as an Egyptian Goddess) against each other, with Eve getting the victory.

Afterwards, Beth Phoenix and Natalya enter the ring in an attempt to intimidate the new number one contender, but are forced to leave when the odds start to stack up against them, as Alicia Fox and Kelly Kelly re-enter the ring to stop whatever they had planned.

Backstage, Beaker is instructed to deliver a Muppet Labs Energy Drink to Santino Marella, but unfortunately he ends up bumping into Christian in the hallway. Christian takes the drink and pours it away and laughs, until he turns around to find Sheamus, who asks if there is a problem.

Christian denies any problems existing, and quickly leaves. Turning his attention to Beaker, Sheamus informs him that he can’t make the family reunion this year, and asks him to tell his Aunt Teresa that he said hello. Sheamus checks his own hair is spiky, before doing the same for Beaker and then leaving.

Back in the arena, Air Boom (Evan Bourne and Kofi Kingston) go against Wade Barrett and Cody Rhodes in a tag team match which sees Barrett get the victory for his team, when Barrett hits Bourne with The Wasteland for the 3-count.

Afterwards, Christian hits the ring and starts to attack Kofi Kingston, prompting Barrett and Rhodes to attack both men too – until Sheamus’ music hits and he makes his way to the ring for the save. Sheamus pulls Christian straight out of the ring, before entering it and hitting Rhodes with a Brogue Kick, with Barrett exiting the ring before any damage can be done to him too.

Backstage again, CM Punk approaches John Laurinaitis and asks if he saw what happened in his match with Mark Henry. He asks what he’s going to be made to do now, and to his surprise, Laurinaitis says that he has his WWE Championship match as long as Alberto Del Rio agrees to give him one, which Punk says seems fair enough.

After a video hyping Brodus Clay and that he will be on Raw next week, Alberto Del Rio takes on The Big Show in a match which sees Show get the victory, when Del Rio appears to be attempting an enzuigiri in the corner, but is instead hit with the Weapon of Mass Destruction by The Big Show.

Afterwards, CM Punk’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring. He pours water upon the knocked-out Del Rio to wake him up, and informs him that he’s got an important question to answer – whether Del Rio agrees to give him a title shot. Punk informs him that he’ll be applying the Anaconda Vice at the same time that he asks him, and when he does indeed do so, Del Rio quickly agrees to the WWE Championship match at Survivor Series.

After an interaction between Gonzo and Fozzie and Jack Swagger, Vickie Guerrero, and Dolph Ziggler, and a trailer shown promoting the forthcoming movie “The Muppets”, Jack Swagger (accompanied by Vickie Guerrero) is pitted against Santino Marella in a match which sees Marella get the victory, when he spits the Muppets Labs Energy Drink (which he had been handed by Beaker at ringside) and then rolls up Swagger for the 3-count.

Next up, “Long Island Iced Z” Zack Ryder goes against Dolph Ziggler (accompanied by Vickie Guerrero) in a match which sees Ryder get the victory despite the attempted interference by Vickie, when he hits Ziggler with the Rough Ryder for the 3-count.

After a video recapping the events of last week involving Kevin Nash and Triple H, as well as the announcement that Kevin Nash has been re-signed by John Laurinaitis, Michael Cole informs us that his match with Jim Ross will not be happening this week, claiming that J.R is not there due to medical issues, but wonders if J.R will show up next week.

Miss Piggy is shown flirting with John Morrison and she asks him to dinner, but he says that he already has plans, though he has a friend who may be interested. Evidently Hornswoggle is that friend, and he shows her his tattoo of Miss Piggy, before kissing her on the cheek – she isn’t happy about that and gives him a karate chop. Cody Rhodes then makes his own presence known, and places a paper bag on Kermit’s head.

Now, The Miz takes on John Cena in a match which sees Cena get the victory despite the attempt at interference by someone wearing a Scream mask earlier in the match, when he applies the STF to The Miz, forcing him to tap out. Afterwards, the person with the Scream mask attempts to attack Cena once again, but ends up being hit with the Attitude Adjustment.

The mask is pulled off to reveal that the person behind the mask is R-Truth, and John Cena celebrates in the ring as Raw goes off the air.
