SD Fusion: Rematch Of Mass Destruction
The 4th November 2011 episode of Friday Night SmackDown! starts with Randy Orton taking on Cody Rhodes (who is accompanied as always by the assistants with the paper bags) in a Street Fight match which sees Orton get the victory, when he hits Rhodes with an RKO for the 3-count.
After a video recapping the events on last week’s Raw involving Kevin Nash and Triple H, and the announcers confirmation that Kevin Nash has been rehired as per Triple H’s request (click here for our 24th October Raw report), Tyson Kidd is pitted against Ted DiBiase in a match which sees DiBiase get the victory, when he hits Kidd with Dream Street for the 3-count.
Backstage, Matt Striker interviews Mark Henry about why he refuses to grant The Big Show a World Heavyweight Championship rematch, and Henry says that he handled his business at Vengeance, and is tired of being asked about it.
He starts to say more, but something catches his eye and he walks away until he comes face-to-face with Daniel Bryan, and accuses him of “eye-balling” him. Despite Bryan denying the accusation, Henry says that he’s going to go to Teddy Long and ask him for a match between the two of them – if Bryan has the guts. Bryan’s response is to say that he will see him in the ring.
After a video recapping the Battle Royal on Raw to determine the Number One Contender to the Divas Championship (click here for our Raw report), Alicia Fox goes against Natalya in a match which sees Natalya get the victory, when she hits Natalya with a kick to the head that she then follows up with a flipping leg drop for the 3-count.
After a video recapping the events of Vengeance involving Mark Henry and The Big Show, The Big Show makes his way to the ring and talks about how he would rather be out there fighting than talking, likening it to ruining the mystique much like it would if Frankenstein’s monster did the same.
He says that he will make it short and simple for Mark Henry, and says that they have unfinished business from Vengeance concerning the World Heavyweight Championship, suggesting that if he still doesn’t get it, he can ask Alberto Del Rio what he’s trying to explain to him.
Show says that for every episode of SmackDown! he doesn’t get a match with him, he is going to knock Henry out. Christian’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring, explaining when asked by The Big Show if he can help him, that he thought that the line “Momma said to knock you out” was his cue for his match with Sheamus, as that must mean Show has finished.
Before The Big Show leaves however, Christian asks what makes him think that he deserves one more match for the World Heavyweight Championship, saying that he had his chance at Vengeance and didn’t get the job done, unlike himself who he claims has been screwed over repeatedly.
Christian says that he doesn’t come out to ask for one more match because he wants to annoy people, he does it because he says that everybody knows that he deserves it. He seems to get a little paranoid when The Big Show raises his hand to scratch his chin, asking if The Big Show was getting ready to punch him.
The Big Show denies that he was going to knock Christian out and tells him to relax, telling him that he was simply scratching his chin. Instead, Show grabs Christian’s throat and hits him with a chokeslam.
Unfortunately for Christian, he only has a short time to recover as Sheamus comes out for his match against him. Christian doesn’t seem to want anything to do with the match however, and at this point Wade Barrett’s music hits and he starts to make his way to the ring.
Barrett says that it is obvious that Christian is no state to compete, so suggests himself as a suitable replacement. The match sees Barrett get the victory, when he takes advantage of the distraction provided by Christian, and rolls up Sheamus for the 3-count.
Afterwards, Sheamus seems to want to take out his anger on Barrett, but ends up turning around only for Christian to hit him with a spear. Sheamus manages to catch up with Christian backstage, until Barrett interrupts things and tries to attack Sheamus, but Sheamus manages to gain the upper-hand again and has to be held away by referees and security.
After a video recapping the The Muppets’ appearance on Raw, The Big Show talks to Daniel Bryan about his match with Mark Henry and offers to keep an eye on his Money In The Bank briefcase for him. Bryan thinks he can look after it himself, and Show comments that he knows that Bryan will keep an eye on his briefcase, as he will have The Big Show in his corner for the match.
After a video hyping Brodus Clay’s imminent début on Raw, Sin Cara takes on the débuting Epico in a match which ends in Cara getting the victory as a result of a disqualification, when Hunico (formerly known as the black-attired Sin Cara) interferes.
Afterwards, Hunico and Epico attack Cara together, with them being the ones left standing over the downed man at the end of it, happy at their work.
Next up, Mark Henry is pitted against Daniel Bryan (accompanied by The Big Show) in a match which sees Henry get the victory as a result of a disqualification, when The Big Show decides to end the punishment that Henry is giving Bryan, by hitting Henry with the knock-out blow dubbed the “Weapon of Mass Destruction”.
Afterwards, Show realises the prone position that Henry is in and tries to wake up Bryan. He grabs the Money In The Briefcase and hands it to Daniel Bryan, pointing out that Mark Henry is knocked out and could become the World Heavyweight Champion.
Daniel Bryan still looks a bit out of it when he re-enters the ring with the briefcase, and when approached by the referee and possibly contemplating handing it to him to cash it in, he looks over at Mark Henry and seems to decide to attempt using the briefcase as a weapon against Henry who is now up again.
Unfortunately for Bryan, Henry manages to block the attempt and instead hits Bryan with the World’s Strongest Slam. The Big Show then re-enters the ring to attempt to get a shot in at Mark Henry himself, but Henry hits Show with the briefcase and follows it up with the World’s Strongest Slam.
Afterwards, SmackDown! General Manager Teddy Long makes his way out to the stage and says that this is not going to be settled on this episode of SmackDown!, but that it will instead be settle at Survivor Series, as whether Henry likes it or not, he will be defending his World Heavyweight Championship in a rematch against The Big Show.
The Big Show and Mark Henry stare each other down from their respective positions, the former with a grin, as SmackDown! goes off the air.
