SD Fusion: Crutch Of The Matter

by Firefly on 20th November 2011

The 18th November 2011 episode of Friday Night SmackDown! starts with an attack by Mark Henry on Daniel Bryan already in progress backstage, with Henry then dragging him out to the ring and hitting him with a number of World’s Strongest Slams, due to supposedly disrespecting him.

Bryan gets taken away by referees, while Henry says that Bryan is in pain, and that he promises that there will be more where that came from. He says that The Big Show suffered pain, but that it was evidently not enough, but he promises at Survivor Series that one of them will be carried out of there, but that it won’t be him as he will be leaving as still the World Heavyweight Champion.

Next, Sin Cara takes on Dolph Ziggler (accompanied by Vickie Guerrero), but before the match takes place, Vickie introduces Ziggler and points out that he will be competing in two matches at Survivor Series; one as a member of Team Barrett, but the second to defend his WWE Championship against John Morrison.

The match ends with Ziggler getting the victory, when he reverses Cara’s pin attempt into one of his own, grabbing the tights to ensure the 3-count. Afterwards, Ziggler attempts to push Cara around, but is instead attacked by Cara, until Jack Swagger makes his presence known and he and Ziggler turn the tables. Mason Ryan gets the final word however, as he hits the ring to make the save and forces Swagger and Ziggler to bail out.

Now, Jack Swagger (accompanied by Vickie Guerrero) is pitted against Mason Ryan in a match which sees Ryan get the victory, when he counters Swagger’s clothesline attempt and hits Swagger with the full-nelson slam for the 3-count.

After an interaction between Alicia Fox, Justin Gabriel, and Zack Ryder which is interrupted by The Big Show and sees them inform him of Mark Henry’s actions against Daniel Bryan earlier to send a message to Show, Christian’s music hits and he makes his way out onto the stage.

Christian talks about how he was chokeslammed by The Big Show two weeks ago and says that it caused a serious neck injury, but he isn’t happy that Teddy Long ignored his claims last week and put him in a match against Sheamus.

He says that he could have walked away, but he didn’t and fought Sheamus like a man, and did so all over Europe too, and in doing so he severely injured his ankle as well, as he then shows a photo of his ankle. He isn’t sure how long he’ll be out or even if he’ll ever be the same, but he says that what he does know is that he is off Team Barrett, but that he will still be supporting them on to Survivor Series.

Christian says that it is because he is special and inspires everybody, making them better. He says that normally he would be out there asking for one more match for the World Heavyweight Championship, but for right now, he’d just like one more match at all, but he says that has been taken away by Long and his incompetence.

He says that this isn’t a surprise, but what is surprise is the complete lack of respect from the WWE Universe, and when asked if they even care if he is injured, the crowd are heard to yell “no”. Christian asks a few more times and gets the same answer again, and says that there will be consequences for what Long did to him, and he says that he has never been more embarrassed about a collection of people than he does the crowd, as he says that he is through with them.

After an interaction backstage between AJ, Daniel Bryan, and The Big Show, in which Show checks up on Bryan before deciding that he needs to go and find Mark Henry, Ted DiBiase goes against Derrick Bateman (accompanied by Maxine) in a match which sees DiBiase get the victory, when he hits Bateman with Dream Street for the 3-count.

After an interaction backstage with The Big Show searching for Mark Henry that sees Show being informed that Henry is long gone and also seeing Show take out Jinder Mahal, and a video recapping the earlier attack on Daniel Bryan by Mark Henry, The Big Show makes his way to the ring.

Show says that it is a shame that Henry left the building, as they could have had the match on this episode of SmackDown!, and he says that if he goes into Survivor Series with all the anger he is feeling, he is going to get disqualified, which he is sure nobody wants as they instead want to see him beat Henry and become the new World Heavyweight Champion.

He says that he always carries a piece of footage around everywhere he goes, which he then rolls as it is revealed to be when Mark Henry took him out a number of months ago. Show says that it is a reminder to keep him focused on his goal of taking Mark Henry’s most prized possession of the World Heavyweight Championship.

The Big Show promises that Mark Henry is going to be the one who doesn’t walk out of Survivor Series, but that instead Henry will be losing the World Heavyweight Championship to him. He holds up his fist and addressing Henry, tells him to take a close look at it, as it is coming for him.

Next up, Kofi Kingston takes on Hunico in a match which sees Kingston get the victory, when he hits Hunico with the SOS for the 3-count.

After a video hyping Ezekiel Jackson, Beth Phoenix and Natalya are pitted against AJ and Kaitlyn in a tag team match that sees Natalya get the victory for her team, when she forces AJ to tap out to the Sharpshooter. Afterwards, Kaitlyn doesn’t appear to be very happy about the loss, and also doesn’t look very sympathetic towards AJ.

After a video recapping the events on Monday Night Raw involving The Rock, John Cena, The Miz, and R-Truth (click here for our Raw report), and the announcers hyping the matches to take place at Survivor Series, and a video recapping the match last week between Randy Orton and Wade Barrett, Randy Orton and Sheamus go against Wade Barrett and Cody Rhodes in a tag team match.

The matches sees Christian come out at one point to cheer on the two members of Team Barrett like he said he would, but Sheamus and Orton get the victory for their team as a result of a disqualification, when Christian hits Sheamus with one of his crutches in full view of the referee.

Afterwards, Barrett and Rhodes take advantage and attack Orton and Sheamus, until Sheamus manages to start fighting back and hit Rhodes with the Brogue Kick, then attacking Barrett with one of the crutches and Orton following it up with an RKO to Barrett.

After Sheamus hits Cody Rhodes with a crucifix powerbomb, both he and Randy Orton stand tall over the downed men and then celebrate as SmackDown! goes off the air.
