PPV Fusion: Elimination Chamber 2012

by Firefly on 22nd February 2012

The 2012 WWE Elimination Chamber Pay-Per-View starts with a video hyping the Elimination Chamber matches to take place at the event, followed by the first match being revealed as the Raw Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship.

CM Punk and Kofi Kingston start off the match, with Dolph Ziggler being the first to be released from his pod, the second being R-Truth, followed by The Miz, and lastly Chris Jericho. R-Truth is the first person eliminated from the Chamber, when CM Punk hits him with an elbow drop from the top rope for the 3-count.

Dolph Ziggler is the next to be eliminated, when Chris Jericho hits him with with the Codebreaker for the 3-count. Kofi Kingston is also eliminated by Jericho, when he is forced to tap out to the Walls Of Jericho.

After eliminated Kingston, Jericho adds more punishment by being the one to throw him out of the Chamber, but he turns around only to be hit with a kick to the head by CM Punk, which makes Jericho fall out of the Chamber to the floor outside, knocking over the cameraman and hitting some equipment on the way down.

Chris Jericho is apparently unresponsive, which leads the decision to be made that he is unfit to continue, so the match is down to CM Punk and The Miz, and CM Punk gets the victory to retain his title, when he hits The Miz with a GTS for the 3-count.

After a video recapping the events of Monday Night Raw involving Randy Orton, The Big Show, and Daniel Bryan (click here for our Raw report), and the Wildcard Battle Royal on Friday Night SmackDown! (click here for our SmackDown! report), Santino Marella is shown backstage in a situation reminiscent of the Rocky movies, as he cracks some eggs into a glass and then drinks them… only to throw them up seconds later, apparently unable to handle it (with the music playing the background not being “Eye Of The Tiger”, but the theme previously used by Eugene).

After a video hyping John Cena (including appearances from Cena’s friend Rob MacIntyre, Cena himself, and WWE Developmental Talents Seth Rollins and Big E) and his match with The Rock at WrestleMania XXVIII (28), Beth Phoenix takes on Tamina Snuka for the Divas Championship in a match which sees Beth get the victory and retain her title, when she hits Tamina with the Glam Slam for the 3-count.

After a video hyping the “be a STAR Alliance” and another Rocky-type montage with Santino, this time him hitting the Cobra on a hanging piece of meat, John Laurinaitis makes his way to the ring with David Otunga and introduces himself.

Laurinaitis talks about how he has appeared before the WWE Board OF Directors and they wanted him to remain as the Interim General Manager of Raw, but he says that he feels that he should point out to the Board Of Directors that Teddy Long should also be subject to the same scrutiny, as he knows for a fact that there are complaints about Teddy Long’s skills, or lack thereof.

He starts to say how he intends to go forward, but he is interrupted by Alberto Del Rio’s music hitting and him making his way out, much to the approval of the crowd. Del Rio complains about Teddy Long and says that people like him aren’t needed in the business, and addressing John Laurinaitis, he says that he thinks that Laurinaitis should be the permanent General Manager of Raw and SmackDown!.

Mark Henry’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring too, where he also proceeds to support Laurinaitis to become the permanent General Manager of both shows. Finally, Christian’s music hits and he makes his return, where he also adds his support for Laurinaitis to become the GM of both shows, before Otunga takes a photo of everyone in the ring (including himself).

After a video hyping that WrestleMania XXVIII (28) is forty-two days away, and another Rocky-type montage sees Santino Marella running up some steps and celebrating at the top, Josh Mathews interviews The Big Show about whether it is imperative that he win the World Heavyweight Championship in the upcoming Elimination Chamber match and go into WrestleMania as the Champion, considering his “less than stellar” history at WrestleMania.

Show admits that he can’t deny his WrestleMania history, but he says that it is not about how many times you fall of the horse, but how many times you get back up and ride it, so he says that it is indeed imperative that he go into the Chamber with confidence and walk out as the World Heavyweight Champion, and that everything else is in the past.

Now, the SmackDown! Elimination Chamber for the World Heavyweight Championship takes place, with The Big Show and Wade Barrett starting off the match, and Cody Rhodes being the first to be let out of his pod.

The next to be let out of his pod is Santino Marella, followed by The Great Khali, and lastly Daniel Bryan – though before the time is up for Bryan to be let out, Show breaks the chains on the roof of Bryan’s pod, and climbs in, beating him up until Bryan is able to escape when it is time for his pod to open.

The first to be eliminated is The Great Khali, when he is hit with a spear by Show, who then pins him for the 3-count. The next to be eliminated is The Big Show, when Rhodes hits Show with a DDT, Barrett follows it up with a diving elbow, and Rhodes covers Show for the 3-count.

Santino Marella eliminates Cody Rhodes next, when he rolls him up for the 3-count, and Marella also eliminates Wade Barrett later on, when he takes advantage of Bryan’s diving headbutt to Barrett, and pins him for the 3-count.

Despite the best efforts of Marella, Bryan gets the victory and retains his title, when he forces Marella to tap out to the LeBell lock.

Afterwards, Daniel Bryan celebrates in the ring – until Sheamus’ music hits, and the 2012 Royal Rumble winner makes it apparent who he intends to face at WrestleMania, as he makes his way to the ring, counters the shot that Bryan attempts to make towards him, and hits him with the Celtic Cross before leaving again.

After an interaction between Hornswoggle and Natalya in which he makes a “cut the cheese” joke and she denies it being her, before she then breaks wind and runs away, an interaction between Jack Swagger, Vickie Guerrero, Hornswoggle, and Justin Gabriel sees Teddy Long interrupt and make a match between Gabriel and Swagger, and also sees Swagger say that there should be one General Manager for both shows, which Long agrees with, but says that GM should be himself.

After a video hyping The Rock and promoting the release of his WWE DVD and Blu-Ray on Tuesday, Justin Gabriel (accompanied by Hornswoggle) is pitted against Jack Swagger (accompanied by Vickie Guerrero) for the United States Championship in a match which sees Swagger get the victory and retain his title, when he forces Gabriel to tap out to the ankle-lock.

After a video with The Rock and John Cena hyping their match at WrestleMania, and a video recapping the events leading to the upcoming match between John Cena and Kane, Kane goes against John Cena in an Ambulance match which sees John Cena get the victory, when he hits Kane with an Attitude Adjustment from the top of the ambulance to the the floor at the side of it, and then loads him into the back of the ambulance and closes the doors.

John Cena celebrates in the ring, as the 2012 Elimination Chamber Pay-Per-View goes off the air.
