Raw Fusion: Star Wars & Sycho Sid

by Firefly on 26th June 2012

The 25th June 2012 episode of Monday Night Raw starts with a video recapping the events of the past few weeks involving CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Kane, and AJ, followed by AJ apparently addressing the three men backstage about her relationship with the three of them – until the camera shows that she is saying it all into a mirror.

Vickie Guerrero makes her way out onto the stage to kick off the show, where she says that the WWE Board Of Directors has made her the General Manager of Raw and SmackDown! this week, and that considering her track record, she is sure she will be named the permanent General Manager on the 1000th episode of Raw.

She announces that the first match of this episode is a Triple Threat elimination match, which is soon revealed to be between Daniel Bryan, Kane, and CM Punk. The match sees Daniel Bryan get the victory, when CM Punk takes advantage of the distraction provided by AJ to eliminate Kane with a GTS for the 3-count, but Bryan quickly follows it up with a kick to the head of Punk for the 3-count.

After an interaction backstage involving Vickie Guerrero, Alberto Del Rio, Dolph Ziggler, and Ricardo Rodriguez, in which Vickie makes a Number One Contender match between Del Rio and Ziggler for later in the episode, where the winner will face Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Championship on the upcoming episode of Friday Night SmackDown!, The Big Show takes on Brodus Clay (accompanied by Cameron and Naomi).

The match sees Show get the victory, when Clay attempts to pick Show up but his knee gives way, allowing Show to cover him for the 3-count.

After a video of John Cena granting his 300th wish with the Make A Wish Foundation last week, and a video recapping the events on the 7th September 2009 episode of Monday Night Raw with Bob Barker, to hype the upcoming 1000th episode of Raw on the 23rd July, the announcers recap the events of during the break which saw Show hit Clay with the Weapon of Mass Destruction as he was being helped from the ring.

After a video recapping Triple H’s challenge from No Way Out and the events involving Paul Heyman and Triple H last week on Raw, and the announcers informing us that Lesnar will answer Triple H’s challenge next week on Raw, an interaction between Kane and AJ backstage sees Kane say that even he finds her mentally unstable and that it is best for them to stay away from each other.

Back in the arena, Santino Marella is pitted against Jack Swagger for the United States Championship in a match which sees Marella get the victory and retain his title, when he hits Swagger with The Cobra for the 3-count.

Next, John Cena makes his way to the ring, where he talks in Star Wars references about the events involving him, The Big Show, John Laurinaitis, and Vince McMahon at No Way Out, and then starts to say about a historic announcement that he has, when the lights go out.

Chris Jericho’s music and pyro hits as he makes his way to the ring, and he tells Cena that it is Jericho’s night and for Cena to stop wasting time, make his historic announcement, then shut the hell up and get out of his ring.

Cena explains to Jericho that things have changed while he has been gone, and talks about Show entering himself into the Money In The Bank match at the Pay-Per-View of the same name, which leads to his historic announcement that to stop Show, he is going to enter himself into the match too, and that he is also going to win it.

Jericho talks about inventing the Money In The Bank match, and then announces his own entry into the Money In The Bank match, and he says that instead of worrying about stopping The Big Show, maybe John Cena should worry about stopping Chris Jericho.

Vickie Guerrero makes her way out onto the stage where she says that at the Money In The Bank Pay-Per-View, there will be two Money In The Bank matches – one for the WWE Championship contract and one for the World Heavyweight Championship contract – and that nobody is able to enter themselves into the matches.

She says that the WWE Board Of Directors told her that the WWE Championship Money In The Bank match will be very exclusive as only former WWE Champions can participate, so it will involve Kane, The Big Show, Chris Jericho, and John Cena.

John Cena quips that Vickie is not bad as a GM, as long as she does what she just did, namely take orders from the WWE Board Of Directors and make no decisions of her own, but she says that she is the GM of this episode and thus will make the main event of it – John Cena facing Chris Jericho for the first time in two years.

Now, Lilian Garcia is about to introduce a WWE Superstar from the past to help hype the 1000th episode of Raw, but she is interrupted by Heath Slater’s music hitting and him making his way to the ring.

Slater says that he doesn’t care what Vader, Cyndi Lauper, Wendi Richter, and Roddy Piper think about him, as he is one of the top Superstars on Raw and he rules the world. After repeating that he rules the world, his opponent is revealed as former WWE Superstar Sycho Sid, returning for the first time in fifteen years.

The match sees Sycho Sid get the victory, when he hits Slater with a powerbomb for the 3-count.

Next up, Alberto Del Rio goes against Dolph Ziggler in a contract on a pole match to determine the Number One Contender to face Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Championship on the upcoming episode of Friday Night SmackDown!.

The match never officially ends however due to neither man being able to grab onto the contract and hold it for long enough, and because Sheamus makes his way out onto the stage and says that he has spoken to Vickie Guerrero, and that she has made a Triple Threat match between Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, and Dolph Ziggler for SmackDown! Instead.

After a video recapping the events of the Triple Threat match from the start of the show, and the results of the Twitter poll of who fans think AJ should be with, an interaction involving CM Punk and AJ sees AJ tell Punk that she is open to taking things to the next level and that she is dedicating her upcoming match to him.

After a video recapping The Rock’s “This Is Your Life” segment hosted by Mick Foley on the 27th September 1999 episode of Monday Night Raw, to hype the upcoming 1000th episode, the WWE Divas compete in a “Divas Summertime Beach Battle Royal”, but before the match takes place, Vickie makes her way to the ring.

Vickie says that as John Laurinaitis was fired, “People Power” is dead, so long live “Vickie Power” and she advises the Divas to stay on her good side, as she enters the ring and will apparently be one of the participants in the match too.

The match sees AJ get the victory, when she and Vickie are the last ones left in the ring and she eliminates Vickie. Afterwards, she takes a page from Daniel Bryan by celebrating with a “Yes!” chant in the ring.

Now, Chris Jericho takes on John Cena in a match which sees John Cena apparently get the victory as a result of a disqualification, when The Big Show makes his way to the ring, and interferes by hitting a leg drop to the back of Cena’s head, who is being held in the Walls Of Jericho.

Jericho doesn’t look very happy at Show’s interference, but after Show asks if he wants some too, Jericho makes the wise decision to leave. Show hits Cena with a chokeslam and follows it up with a camel clutch.

The Big Show eventually releases the clutch, but still crouches over the downed Cena as Raw goes off the air.
