SD Fusion: Dialling Up The 619

by Firefly on 23rd July 2012

The 20th July 2012 episode of Friday Night SmackDown! starts with a video recapping Rey Mysterio’s return on Monday Night Raw (click here for our Raw report), followed by Rey Mysterio’s music hitting and him making his way to the ring, returning to SmackDown! in his home-town of San Diego.

Mysterio says that it has been almost a year that he was injured, but he never lost hope and it feels good to be there with all of his friends and family in his home-town to officially say that he is back. He says that on Raw he just couldn’t wait, and there was something that he just had to do to someone, and the fact that Alberto Del Rio was in the ring just made it sweeter.

He is cut off from saying anything further however, as Alberto Del Rio’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring with Ricardo Rodriguez. Del Rio says that Mysterio made a mistake coming back, as he should never have picked a fight against him, because he is the one who took Mysterio out a year ago and almost ended his career.

Del Rio says that he can finish the job right now, but instead of that he is going to give Mysterio an order, which is to leave his ring right now. Mysterio refuses, and Del Rio continues that while Mysterio was gone, he won a lot – but he doesn’t want to talk about Mysterio, he wants to talk about Sheamus.

Mysterio says that he will tell Del Rio something about Sheamus – which was that he beat Del Rio’s face in at Money In The Bank (click here for our Money In The Bank report). Alberto Del Rio says that Rey Mysterio hasn’t learned anything in a year, but that the good thing is that his return is going to be short.

He says that lucky for Mysterio, the person who is going to destroy his life is none other than the next World Heavyweight Champion, Alberto Del Rio. At this point, Dolph Ziggler’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring with Vickie Guerrero.

Dolph Ziggler says that Mysterio can’t take any comfort in that, because is his career is getting ruined by the next World Heavyweight Champion, it is going to be because he did it. He tells Mysterio to relax as he isn’t out there for him, instead he turns his attention to Del Rio and says that he is out there for him.

Ziggler talks about winning the World Heavyweight Championship Money In The Bank Ladder match and how he was going to cash it in against Sheamus at Money In The Bank, so he would be the new World Heavyweight Champion right now if it wasn’t for Del Rio.

Alberto Del Rio says that if Dolph Ziggler thinks that he is going to do the dirty job so that he can take what is Del Rio’s, that is loco, and if he wanted, Ziggler could be working for him right now as well as Vickie.

Rey Mysterio interrupts and suggests that if both men have a problem with each other, they should get it on in the ring right now. Ziggler agrees that they should shut up and get it on right now, but he says that it shouldn’t be with each other, as he and Del Rio then start to approach Mysterio, only for Sheamus’ music to hit and him make his way to the ring to even up the odds.

Sheamus tells Mysterio that it is good to see him, but as for Del Rio and Ziggler, if they take one more step, he’ll shove the briefcase up their “show-off”, put them in the trunk of Del Rio’s car, and drive them off the bridge into the Pacific Ocean.

He then decides that they should perhaps just do that right now anyway, but Del Rio quickly bails out of the ring, leaving Ziggler to face both men alone, as Sheamus knocks Ziggler down with a clothesline and Mysterio attempts to follow it up with a 619, but Ziggler manages to avoid it and bails out of the ring too.

After a video recapping the WWE Tag Team Championship match from Raw, Hunico, Camacho, Titus O’Neil, and Darren Young (accompanied by AW) take on Kofi Kingston, R-Truth, Primo, and Epico (accompanied by Rosa Mendes) in an Eight-Man Tag Team match which sees Darren Young get the victory for his team, when O’Neil takes advantage of the distraction provided by AW, knocking Primo off the turnbuckle which allows Young to catch Primo with the double-knee gut-buster for the 3-count.

Afterwards, The Big Show’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring, where he takes out all of the men in the ring (except O’Neil, Young, and AW who have bailed out and retreated). Show grabs a microphone and only says “and….what?” as if there isn’t anything wrong with his actions, which presumably were to make a point that he can do what he wants, when he wants.

After a video recapping the events of the 3rd August 2009 episode of Monday Night Raw involving Jeremy Piven, to hype the upcoming 1000th episode, and a video recapping the events of Money In The Bank and Raw involving John Cena, Damien Sandow is pitted against Zack Ryder.

Before the match takes place however, Sandow says that the fans are all embarrassing themselves by supporting this “brainless broski”, but he is cut off from what he says further by Ryder attacking him to kick-start the match.

The match sees Sandow get the victory, when he hits Ryder with a neckbreaker for the 3-count.

Next, Christian hosts the “Peep Show” and he says that the word “bizarre” was taken to a whole new level when “this” took place, as he then rolls footage from Raw of Daniel Bryan proposing to AJ and her agreeing to do so.

He says that his next guests will indeed be getting married on the upcoming episode of Raw, which is the 1000th episode, so he proceeds to introduce Daniel Bryan and AJ who make their way to the ring.

Christian says that he has so many questions, so starts with how the wedding planning is going, to which Daniel Bryan says that it is going well and he and AJ then roll a montage video of the apparent wedding planning in action.

When Bryan is asked if he is sure that he is doing the right thing, his answer is a simple yes, and as for whether AJ forgives Bryan for what he is done in the past, she too responds with a simple yes. When asked if this is really what it seems, really true love, both answer and start chanting “yes” while the crowd chant “no”.

Christian decides to question the crowd, first asking them whether they think that Bryan and AJ should get married, to which the response is “no”, then asking if they think that Bryan really loves AJ, to which another “no” is the response, and finally he asks if they think AJ really has any idea what she is doing, to which the response is the same as before, another “no”.

He asks AJ the final question too, to which she responds with a slap and both Bryan and AJ get ready to leave. Christian says that he’s a married man himself, so he is going to let the “bridezilla” slap go, but he points out that before they try to leave, they probably didn’t realise that Bryan is scheduled for a match on this episode.

Christian offers some advice to Daniel Bryan, which is that before proposing to someone, he should make sure she doesn’t have any excess baggage, like for example a psychotic ex-boyfriend. He clarifies that to be a psychotic ex-boyfriend who Bryan will be facing right now – the ex-boyfriend in question is revealed to be Kane.

The match sees Kane get the victory as a result of a disqualification, when AJ sees that Kane is getting ready to grab Bryan for a chokeslam, so she climbs the turnbuckle and jumps onto his back to stop it.

Daniel Bryan attempts to take advantage, but he ends up being hit with a chokeslam despite AJ still being perched on Kane’s back. Kane’s attempts to get AJ off his back and stop her attempts to attack him see her end up stationed at the front of Kane in a familiar position, but which she lets go after a few moments and exits the ring, leaving up the ramp with Daniel Bryan, both kissing each other upon reaching the stage.

After a video recapping the events over the past few weeks involving Heath Slater and WWE Superstars from the past, Heath Slater is in the ring ready for a match, where he says that his luck is going to change, because he said that it is going to.

His smile quickly slides off his face as “What A Rush” is heard, and Road Warrior Animal makes his way to the ring to be his opponent. The match sees Animal get the victory, when he hits Slater with a powerslam and follows it up with a jumping elbow drop for the 3-count.

After an interaction backstage involving Ricardo Rodriguez and Vickie Guerrero, and the announcers hyping that Degeneration-X will be on the upcoming 1000th episode of Raw, along with The Rock, Brock Lesnar, Daniel Bryan and AJ’s wedding, and a WWE Championship match between CM Punk and John Cena due to Cena cashing in his Money In The Bank contract, Alberto Del Rio and Dolph Ziggler (accompanied by Vickie Guerrero) go against Rey Mysterio and Sheamus in a tag team match.

The match sees Sheamus and Mysterio get the victory as a result of a disqualification, when Ricardo Rodriguez attempts to interfere by grabbing Sheamus’ leg. Afterwards, Del Rio takes advantage of this as he attacks Sheamus, putting him in the cross-armbreaker until the referees can get him away from him.

Ziggler notes the prone position of the World Heavyweight Champion, and he hands his briefcase to the referee as he apparently looks to want to cash in his Money In The Bank contract, but before the bell can be rung to officially start the match, Mysterio knocks Ziggler into the ropes and then hits him with a 619, and Sheamus follows it up with a Brogue Kick to Ziggler.

Sheamus and Rey Mysterio celebrate in the ring, as SmackDown! goes off the air.
