SD Fusion: Can You Dig It, Sucka?

by Firefly on 5th August 2012

The 3rd August 2012 episode of Friday Night SmackDown! starts with Lilian Garcia introducing WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, and him making his way to the ring to announce who has been named the new General Manager of SmackDown! – with the person being revealed and introduced as Booker T.

Booker T thanks McMahon and the WWE Board Of Directors, and he starts to announce what his first act as General Manager will be, but he is interrupted by Alberto Del Rio’s music hitting and him making his way to the ring.

Del Rio congratulates Booker on becoming the new GM, but he sees right through the sucking up, and continues by talking about what Del Rio said about how he is better than Sheamus on Monday Night Raw (click here for our Raw report).

Del Rio reiterates that Sheamus is beneath him, and that his bloodline bred him for greatness unlike Sheamus, but he is interrupted from saying anything further by Sheamus’ music hitting and him making his way to the ring too.

Sheamus congratulates Booker on his new job and then talks about how he is proud of where he comes from and who he is, and unlike Del Rio, you won’t see him taking three weeks off from competing because he doesn’t want to get his nails dirty, as he then asks if Del Rio is really going to refrain from competing until SummerSlam, to which Del Rio says yes.

Booker T disagrees however, as he says that both men have individual matches on this episode of SmackDown!, and ignoring Del Rio reiterating that he won’t compete until SummerSlam, he says that Alberto Del Rio’s opponent will be Randy Orton and Sheamus’ match will be right now, as his opponent is Tensai (accompanied by Sakamoto).

The match sees Sheamus get the victory, when he hits Tensai with the Brogue Kick for the 3-count.

After an interaction involving Eve Torres and Booker T in which she unsuccessfully angles for a position on his staff, an interaction involving Booker T and Teddy Long in which Booker gives Long the job of being Senior Advisor to the General Manager, and a video hyping Brock Lesnar and SummerSlam, Antonio Cesaro says “Hello” in five languages (English, French, Italian, Swiss, and German).

Now, Antonio Cesaro (accompanied by Aksana) takes on Santino Marella in a match which sees Cesaro get the victory, when he hits Marella with the Gotch Style Neutralizer for the 3-count.

After a video recapping the events involving Daniel Bryan on Raw, and Matt Striker interviewing Daniel Bryan, who says that he doesn’t want anybody else chanting “Yes” any more, and that we will hear him saying “No” a lot more, Chris Jericho, Christian, and Kane are pitted against Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler, and The Miz in a Six-Man Tag Team match.

The match sees Bryan get the victory for his team, when he takes advantage of the distraction provided by Vickie Guerrero and Dolph Ziggler, and rolls up Jericho for the 3-count. Afterwards, he yells “No” at members of the crowd who are yelling “Yes”, particularly at one fan who seems to be very into the chant.

After Matt Striker interviews Randy Orton, who says that WWE is his life and that he is happy to be back and intends to celebrate his SmackDown! return with an RKO to Alberto Del Rio later on, Ryback goes against Jinder Mahal in a match which sees Ryback get the victory as a result of a disqualification, when Mahal hits Ryback with a microphone in full view of the referee, causing the referee to call for the bell.

Next up, R-Truth (accompanied by Kofi Kingston) goes against Darren Young (accompanied by Titus O’Neil and AW) in a match which sees Young get the victory, when he takes advantage of R-Truth’s distracted state and hits him with the double-knees to the gut for the 3-count.

After a video recapping the events on Raw involving The Big Show, John Cena, CM Punk, and AJ, and an interaction backstage involving Booker T, Layla, and Cody Rhodes, in which Booker tells Rhodes that he will be facing Sin Cara next week, Randy Orton takes on Alberto Del Rio.

The match sees Orton get the victory as a result of a disqualification, when Ricardo Rodriguez attempts to attack Orton when he is getting ready to hit Del Rio with an RKO. Afterwards, Sheamus runs down the ramp and shoves Del Rio back into the ring, where Orton hits Del Rio with an RKO.

Randy Orton celebrates in the ring while Sheamus watches on from the stage, as SmackDown! goes off the air.
