NXT Fusion: The Price Of Marriage

by Firefly on 8th November 2010

The 2nd November 2010 episode of NXT starts with a video recapping the events of the past few weeks involving Goldust and Aksana leading to the wedding to take place later on, followed by Matt Striker introducing the Rookie Divas.

After excusing Aksana from the competition so that she can prepare for her wedding, Striker says that the competition is a Kissing Contest and asks for a special judge to help him. Hornswoggle makes his way to the ring and the first to go is Kaitlyn, with Hornswoggle seeming happy about the kiss.

It is Maxine’s turn, but she does not want to kiss him (or Striker) and as she is sure that he did this just to mess with her, she tells him to get out of the ring, which he does so however unhappy he is about it.

As he walks up the ramp, “Dashing” Cody Rhodes’ music hits and he goes to the ring with a mirror in his hand and says that he is there for his brother’s wedding, but this scenario called for someone dashing, so here he is.

Striker says that the contest has to be reset, meaning that Kaitlyn has to take her turn again. After Kaitlyn is Maxine who he sprays her in the mouth with breath-spray before she only allows him to kiss her hand.

Naomi’s turn has her says that she’d rather lose than kiss him, with him replying that as he has many ladies carrying his bags already, she clearly has too much baggage for him. A.J is the last to take part, just going for it enthusiastically after some encouragement from Rhodes, with it obviously working well as he declares her as the winner.

Going backstage, Primo tells A.J that she looks good and that he was jealous when Rhodes kissed her, she says that she’s been wanting to tell him something for a while now and as she may get eliminated, this seems to be the best time to do so, but she wants to tell him in private.

They look for a room but it is already occupied by “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes and The Bella Twins who are having a private conversation of their own, with Michael Cole commenting that the Bella Twins were supposed to be his dates.

Back in the arena, Alicia Fox takes on Kelly Kelly in a match which sees Kelly Kelly get the victory after hitting Alicia with the K2. Backstage again, the search for a room continues, but again it is occupied – this time by a kissing Maxine and Hornswoggle, with Maxine protesting that she was doing CPR before Primo and A.J decide to continue the search.

Time for the second challenge, and keeping with the wedding theme it is the “Wedding Gift Scramble”, with the winner being the person who finds the flag hidden in one of them. Kaitlyn finds it and wins the challenge.

After we are asked to “Stand up for WWE”, we go backstage again where Primo and A.J try to find somewhere private but A.J decides that standing near a container is private enough – she doesn’t get to tell him as she then wonders why the container is shaking, when Kaitlyn and Dolph Ziggler are revealed to be kissing.

Vickie Guerrero gets up from her seat on the stage and goes backstage as Ziggler and Kaitlyn try to protest their innocence until an unhappy Vickie walks up and starts to attack Kaitlyn, but Kaitlyn turns it around and ends up throwing a nearby cake onto her before leaving.

Next up, it’s time for the wedding, and after “Dashing” Cody Rhodes and “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes make their way to the ring, Hornswoggle makes his way to the ring with the rings, after which Goldust enters to his music and then Aksana to the wedding march.

After Goldust and Aksana say their own vows, the minister asks if anyone objects and after nobody does, he says that he does himself, as everybody has a price. Ted DiBiase’s music hits and he makes his way onto the stage with Maryse, with DiBiase telling them not to be so surprised as it isn’t the first time that money has destroyed a marriage, but as the wedding is now off, Aksana is going to be deported.

After the Immigration representative comes out onto the stage at DiBiase’s request, he continues by saying that there is one way to save it, and that is to give him back the Million Dollar Championship. Dusty Rhodes says that he knew something would happen, so he went and found a minister to help the couple feel good, so calls him out.

“The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase Sr.’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring, and replies to his son’s question of why he is doing this by saying that the look on his face is priceless. The ceremony continues and after the couple both say “I do”, he pronounces them as man and wife, and tells Goldust that he can now kiss the bride.

Dusty Rhodes walks around Goldust and kisses her instead, to the surprise of Goldust, but when Goldust tries to lean in for a kiss, she slaps him and leaves.

Now, it’s time to find out who is the next Rookie Diva to be eliminated, and after a reminder that Naomi has immunity from elimination, it is revealed that that Diva is Maxine. When asked for parting words for the WWE Universe, Maxine says that she understands that it’s hard to wrap your mind about something different, and she’s not a typical Diva or woman, but she will be back, and she will reach the top.

She thanks everybody for the experience and wishes the remaining Rookie Divas luck, and after a hug from Alicia she leaves, with a video recapping the reactions to the elimination as NXT goes off the air.
