The show itself featured some pretty top-notch matches, led by the fatal four way for the WWE Championship between Randy Orton, John Cena, Triple H, and JBL. All four men worked their tails off on the match and really put together a great main event.
The World Heavyweight Championship match between Undertaker and Edge was a bit less exciting, only because it is starting to get a bit old to see these two wrestle over and over on PPV after PPV. They still worked well though and had a solid finish.
One of the more hyped up matches was coming off of the Ric Flair retirement angle, as Batista went up against HBK Shawn Michaels, with special-guest referee Chris Jericho. The match had great build-up and lived up to the hype on the show, setting up for future angles as well with the three men.
The full card consisted of the following
United States Championship Match
MVP vs. Matt Hardy
ECW Championship Match
Kane vs. Chavo Guerrero
Shawn Michaels vs. Batista (Jericho as guest referee)
12-Diva Tag Team Match
World Heavyweight Championship Match
Undertaker vs. Edge
Fatal Four Way for WWE Championship
Randy Orton vs. Triple H vs. JBL vs. John Cena
Extars
You do get a few extras on this DVD release, but nothing over the top. One great feature which is a cool add-on for WWE fans is the inclusion of the Randy Orton vs. Triple H match which was on the Raw after the PPV. When it was on TV, William Regal shut off the feed, ending the show. The end of the match was never shown.
There is also an exclusive interview with Triple H carried out by Todd Grisham, as well as Spanish commentary.
Overall
WWE Backlash 2008 PPV was definitely above-average with a great main event and a solid under-card. There may not be a whole load of extras but the inclusion of that match from Raw after the PPV is a great add-in. Fans who missed out on the PPV will find this worthy of a purchase on DVD, some quality wrestling. You can pick this DVD up right now at Silvervision.co.uk for the low price of £10.99
