Raw Fusion: Highway To Hell

by Firefly on 27th September 2011

The 26th September 2011 episode of Monday Night Raw starts with Triple H making his way to the ring and a video recapping the firing of R-Truth and The Miz last week, as well as its aftermath.

Triple H says that before he the show gets started, he wants to explain his actions of last week. He says that The Miz and R-Truth were fired not because of his ego or a conspiracy theory, but because of his actions at Night Of Champions, as he then rolls footage of what those actions were, as well as what they said afterwards and the apology last week.

He says that if they are watching at home, they were fired because of their own actions. Triple H says that they savagely attacked a WWE official and gave him a weak apology, which he knows was full of crap.

Triple H says that he knew at that point that he was going to fire them, but that he first fined them $250,000 each and used them to get one more main event out of them, before walking out and firing them.

He says that is on both of them, but as far as fines go, there is still a $250,000 fine floating around, but that fine will be paid by Mark Henry. Triple H says that this fine is due to Henry putting his hands on Jim Ross, and attacking Jerry “The King” Lawler last week and putting him through the announce table.

Addressing the Superstars in the back, he says that nobody is bigger than the WWE, that he fired one of his best friends, Kevin Nash, for lying to him, and because it was the right thing to do. He says that he will always do the right thing for the WWE and doesn’t care if they have been there for ten years.

Triple H is interrupted by Vickie Guerrero’s “Excuse Me!” as she makes her way to the ring with Dolph Ziggler, and says that Ziggler has something to say. Ziggler says that he can’t believe that he is saying it, but he is glad that Triple H is out there talking.

He says that Triple H is talking about doing what is right for the business and for the company, but more specifically he wants to know what he is going to do for him. Ziggler reminds him of being punched by Hugh Jackman last week, culminating in a fractured jaw, as he then shows photos of the incident.

Ziggler says that it is only a hairline fracture, so because all of the kids out there look up to him as their hero, he can still compete – but he can’t even eat solid food. He says that he is going to ask one last time what he plans to do about this.

Triple H says he’s not sure exactly what he wants him to do about it, as Jackman was a guest on the show, Ziggler came out and picked a fight with him, and he got punched in his glass jaw. He suggests that he will perhaps get some security who will surround Ziggler when The Muppets make an appearance next month.

Cody Rhodes decides to make his presence known and makes his way to the ring too, saying that it is all one big joke to Triple H. He says that if he thought it was amusing when Dolph Ziggler got sucker-punched, then he must have been rolling when Randy Orton bashed the ring bell in the side of Rhodes’ head last week on SmackDown! (click here for our SmackDown! report).

He says that he got nine staples placed in the side of his head and the already required facial surgery, which he says is a hundred times more egregious than shoving a referee, so he wants to know why Randy Orton wasn’t fined, punished, or anything.

Triple H says that first of all, he really wishes that they had stapled Rhodes’ mouth, but secondly a few years ago, Orton came to the ring and attacked his wife after handcuffing him to the ropes. He says that he’s sure Rhodes remembers it as he was there too.

He says that he didn’t cry or whine about it, instead he says that he went and beat Orton’s ass on his front lawn. Triple H tells Rhodes to man up, that it is not the Boy Scouts and to toughen up and suck it up.

The interruptions continue, this time with Christian making his way to the ring and talking about how it is not his style to come out and interrupt a conversation that doesn’t involve him, but he is going to do it anyway.

Christian says that what happened to him last week was much worse than what happened to them, as Sheamus came out during his match, put his hands on him, and through him back into the ring, costing him the World Heavyweight Championship.

He says that he wanted to come out and ask Triple H face-to-face how that is fair, but Triple H immediately responds by calling Christian an idiot and pointing out that it was a Lumberjack match, and that Lumberjacks are supposed to do exactly that.

Christian says that he thinks he gets it, but he says that also wants to tell him that he has had enough, and thinks that they have all had enough. He asks Rhodes and Ziggler if they would like to join him in filing the biggest lawsuit in the history of the WWE.

He continues however by addressing Triple H, and suggesting that he could change his mind if he were to give him “one more match”. Triple H says that sounds like a pretty good deal, so he’s going to do that.

Triple H says that at the Hell In A Cell Pay-Per-View on Sunday, he is going to give him “one more match” – against Sheamus. He continues by saying that this Friday on SmackDown!, he is going to give him “one more match” against Randy Orton, and finally for this episode of Raw and for pissing him off, he says that he is going to give him “one more match” against WWE Champion John Cena.

Christian seems happy about the last, asking if it is for the title, but his smile quickly disappears when Triple H replies immediately a “no”. Christian says that it is completely unacceptable, that he is not going to stand there and take this, as he then leaves.

Dolph Ziggler asks Triple H if he will once again fail to do the right thing when it comes to the United States Champion, but Triple H disagrees. Triple H says that he is going to do the right thing and Ziggler will defend the United States Championship against the man who beat him last week, and though he can’t believe he’s saying it, he hopes there will be a new US Champion in Zack Ryder.

Triple H finishes with a “Woo Woo Woo, You Know It”, and this causes Ziggler to complain that Ryder is an Internet Champion and that it doesn’t even count, as he too leaves, with Vickie Guerrero.

Turning his attention to Cody Rhodes, he says that just because he has a zipper on his head, he is going to give him the night off. Rhodes mutters that Triple H should give himself the night off too. Evidently that was a bad idea however, as Triple H heard it.

Triple H asks what he said, so Cody Rhodes says that he thinks that Triple H is a poor excuse for a COO. Triple H says that is a great idea, suggesting that Rhodes defends the Intercontinental Championship on this episode of Raw.

Rhodes continues by suggesting that Triple H do the WWE a favour and resign, but Triple H hears that Rhodes would rather have the Intercontinental Championship match be on the line in a Triple Threat match.

Cody Rhodes says that he didn’t say that, causing Triple H to up it to a Fatal Four Way, and an attempt to interrupt once again sees Triple H interrupt in return and say that he’s got an idea. He tells Rhodes to stay there as his match is next, and he’s going to go backstage, and that the first nine guys that he comes across will challenge Rhodes for the Intercontinental Championship in a 10-Man Over-The-Top-Rope Battle Royal.

The Battle Royal sees Sin Cara get eliminated when he is attacked by the second Sin Cara, who then takes his place without the referees noticing, but is then eliminated himself, with the referees refusing to allow the first Sin Cara to re-enter as to them, he has already been eliminated.

The match sees Rhodes and Sheamus as the last two in the match, but Rhodes gets the victory to retain the title, when he takes advantage of the distraction provided by Christian, and knocks Sheamus from the apron by hitting him with his mask.

Afterwards, Christian pushes Sheamus into the ring post, yelling at him that he cost him the World Heavyweight Championship, and asking him how it feels to be unable to win a title.

After a video recapping the events of last week involving Mark Henry, Jim Ross, and Jerry “The King” Lawler, Michael Cole says that Lawler has bruised ribs and is suffering from anal bleeding.

Going backstage, David Otunga asks John Laurinaitis if he saw that, and asks how much longer they have to put up with it. He says that Triple H’s decisions have become arbitrary and capricious, and that Laurinaitis needs to do something about it.

Laurinaitis says that Otunga needs to do something about it, pointing out that he is a Harvard Graduate with a Law Degree, which Otunga acknowledges, and says that it is exactly what other Superstars have been coming to him for an expert legal opinion.

He says that he may not be practising right now, but that it doesn’t mean that he isn’t a lawyer. Otunga says that he knows the best of the best, but Laurinaitis interrupts and says that this is not a legal issue – or at least not yet anyway.

Laurinaitis says that he may not be the COO, but he is the Executive Vice President of Talent Relations, so suggests that he may need to assert his influence a little. Otunga thanks him and leaves, with Laurinaitis then taking out his phone and possibly using it to send a text message.

After a video hyping Kelly Kelly and a video recapping their tag team match last week, Kelly Kelly and Eve Torres take on “Divas Of Doom” Natalya and Beth Phoenix in a tag team match which sees Beth Phoenix get the victory, when she hits Kelly with a Glam Slam for the 3-count.

Next up, Mark Henry is pitted against The Great Khali, but before the match can get under-way, Henry nails Khali from behind with the World Heavyweight Championship belt, and then following it up by hitting Khali with the World’s Strongest Slam.

Now, John Cena makes his way to the ring and talks about how he “goes to Hell” on Sunday, in the first ever Triple Threat Hell In A Cell match. As for why a match of this magnitude, he says that it is necessary, as though he hates to admit it, the title is surrounded by controversy – from the second CM Punk walked out of the building with it at Money In The Bank, to Alberto Del Rio cashing in a Money In The Bank contract to wear it around his waist, to himself winning it to become the WWE Champion for a tenth time.

Cena says that as of late the championship has been flooded with uncertainty, and that this is why the match is necessary. He says that on Sunday when the door is locked, at the end of the night, the controversy is over.

As for why Hell In A Cell, he says that it is a brutal problem-solver, pointing out that it is over twenty feet high, over five tons of solid steel, and he says that that on Sunday, the three biggest forces in the WWE will live in Hell and make history, as he welcomes everyone to Hell In A Cell, the “Devil’s Playground”.

John Cena says that he could talk for hours about the things that have happened in Hell In A Cell, but instead he will talk about what will happen there. He says that on Sunday he will run into the “Devil’s Playground”, stare Satan straight into the face, and yell at him asking if that is all he has got. He says that he has been through Hell, and that is why he holds the WWE Championship, and he says that on Sunday, there is no way in hell that he will lose it.

Alberto Del Rio and CM Punk (the latter sporting his announcing jacket) join commentary for the match between John Cena and Christian, which sees Cena get the victory as a result of a disqualification, when Del Rio interferes and hits Cena with an enzuigiri in full view of the referee.

Del Rio immediately bails out as CM Punk enters the ring too to go after Del Rio, but Punk doesn’t manage to catch Del Rio in time.

After a video recapping the events of last week involving Dolph Ziggler, Zack Ryder, and Hugh Jackman, Zack Ryder goes against Dolph Ziggler (accompanied by Vickie Guerrero and Jack Swagger) in a match for the United States Championship which sees Ziggler get the victory to retain the title, when Swagger interferes behind the back of the referee, and Ziggler takes advantage by following it up with the Zig-Zag for the 3-count.

Afterwards, Swagger and Ziggler start to attack Ryder until some pyro goes off at the entrance, and Air Boom hit the ring for the save, causing Swagger and Ziggler to bail out of the ring. Teddy Long’s music hits and he makes his way out, saying that if Vickie’s clientèle wants to get involved, then they are going to do it the right way.

He tells Vickie that she has three minutes to find a partner for Ziggler and Swagger, as there is going to be a Six-Man Tag Team match – if she can’t find anybody however, then it will be a three-on-two handicap match.

The match takes place with Vickie apparently unable to find a third partner – that is until later on in the match, when she walks down to the ring with Mason Ryan in tow, who takes his place on the apron on the side of Ziggler and Swagger.

When Mason Ryan is tagged in however, he turns on Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger, attacking both, before leaving and allowing Zack Ryder to get the victory for his team, when he follows up the attack by hitting Ziggler with the Rough Ryder for the 3-count.

After a video hyping the Hell In A Cell Pay-Per-View and damage the match itself can do, David Otunga is shown talking to Cody Rhodes, Christian, Dolph Ziggler, and Vickie Guerrero about unsafe working conditions and how they need to protect themselves and do something about it. He says that he doesn’t know if a lawsuit is the way to go, but if it is, then they need to be together, causing Christian to agree, followed by the others.

After a video recapping the earlier match between Christian and John Cena that saw Alberto Del Rio interfere, John Cena joins commentary as Alberto Del Rio takes on CM Punk in a match that sees Punk get the victory with a kick to the head for the 3-count.

Immediately afterwards, the cell that has been above the ring all night starts to lower and Ricardo Rodriguez attempts to attack Punk, only to change his mind and bail out of the ring. Cena blocks him from running away however.

After the cell has fully lowered, Rodriguez looks around to a panic find an exit, but there is none, and John Cena then throws Rodriguez into the ring, where he is hit with a GTS from Punk, followed by an Attitude Adjustment from Cena himself.

CM Punk then tries to hit John Cena with the GTS too, but Cena avoids it and attempts an Attitude Adjustment, but Punk manages to wriggle out of that too, before Del Rio makes his presence known by hitting Cena with a steel chair.

He hits Punk with the chair too, and is the one left standing over the downed Cena and Punk. Del Rio talks into the camera in Spanish about Hell In A Cell as Raw goes off the air.
