Raw Fusion: Million Dollar Maddox

by Firefly on 14th November 2012

The 5th November 2012 episode of Monday Night Raw starts with a video recapping the events of last week involving CM Punk, Mick Foley, and their respective Survivor Series teams, followed by a video recapping an interaction involving The Miz and Paul Heyman earlier on in which The Miz quits Punk’s team.

After a video hyping a continuation of the events involving Brad Maddox and the events of the “AJ scandal”, Rey Mysterio, Sin Cara, and R-Truth take on Antonio Cesaro and “Prime Time Players” Darren Young and Titus O’Neil in a Six-Man Tag Team match which sees R-Truth get the victory for his team, when he follows up Mysterio’s 619 to Cesaro and hits Cesaro with a jumping reverse STO for the 3-count.

After a video hyping the return of Jerry “The King” Lawler next week, and a video recapping the events involving Vickie Guerrero, John Cena, and AJ last week, Vickie Guerrero makes her way to the ring and talks about how she is thrilled that AJ resigned as the General Manager of Raw, as they must act like professionals and be honest, which she says is something that John Cena has a problem with.

After she once again shows her previous “evidence” from last week, John Cena’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring, where he quips that Vickie running a clean show is like him learning another wrestling move – it’s not going to happen.

Cena reminds Vickie of her previous abuse of power on SmackDown! involving Edge and Dolph Ziggler, but she says that somebody sent her some hotel security footage unsolicited. The footage is shown and it shows AJ knocking on a door and being let in.

More footage is shown from what she claims is another angle of the same room, but this time it shows John Cena stepping outside of the room for a moment in a towel. Cena says that the footage is bogus as it was footage of two totally different rooms.

Vickie Guerrero suggests that as John Cena apparently can’t defend his little girlfriend or himself, she suggests that AJ come out and defend herself in person. The crowd chants “we want AJ”, but AJ appears on the titantron instead and says that Vickie doesn’t want her to go out to the ring.

She says that if she goes out to explain herself, she will give her the beating of her life, so Vickie would then fire her and she would be out of a job, unable to do what she loves to do. Dolph Ziggler appears at AJ’s side and quips that everyone knows what it is that she loves to do, prompting Vickie to laugh and Cena to quickly exit the ring and head backstage.

After an interaction backstage involving Paul Heyman and Wade Barrett, Daniel Bryan (accompanied by Kane) is pitted against Cody Rhodes (accompanied by Damien Sandow) in a match which sees Rhodes get the victory, when he hits Bryan with a Disaster Kick on the outside and then rolls him into the ring to follow it up by hitting him with Cross-Rhodes for the 3-count.

Afterwards, Rhodes says that was an impressive victory by one half of the future WWE Tag Team Champions “Team Rhodes Scholars”, and he boasts that his partner Sandow could defeat Kane just as easily as Rhodes did with Bryan.

That gets put to the test as the match then takes place, but it sees Kane get the victory when he hits Sandow with a chokeslam for the 3-count.

Next, Michael Cole introduces Brad Maddox, who was the referee who screwed Ryback at Hell In A Cell by hitting him with a low blow, and Maddox then proceeds with his explanation. He says that he wanted to be a WWE Superstar and tried to get his foot in the door for years, but apparently even when he was given a chance with a developmental contract, he wasn’t good enough there.

Maddox says that even when WWE officials told him that he would never make it to the main roster of the WWE, his dream never died as he wants to be somebody, no matter how many people tell him that he’s a nobody.

He says that he made a vow to himself that he would do whatever it took to make it to the WWE, so that is why he became a referee. Maddox says that when Raw expanded to three hours and he was hired by AJ, he knew he had a chance to make an impact.

Maddox says that he knows that what he did wasn’t right, but says that it was all him and CM Punk had no idea what he was going to do. He says that Punk was just as surprised as Ryback and the fans, and his actions were a desire to be somebody and it worked as he’s now famous.

He says that his dream is to be a WWE Superstar, and that is why he wants a WWE contract and a match with Ryback, as he says that nobody will forget who he is at this point. He gets ready to leave, but he is interrupted by Vince McMahon’s music hitting and him making his way out onto the stage.

Vince McMahon says that it is one thing to be famous, but another to have a death wish. He doesn’t believe that Maddox did it alone and thus intends to get to the bottom of it, but he says that he’ll give Maddox a one million dollar contract if Brad Maddox can beat Ryback next week.

After McMahon brings out Vickie Guerrero and easily influences her to withdraw CM Punk and Ryback from the Traditional Survivor Series match, and instead put them in a Triple Threat for the WWE Championship with John Cena as the third participant, The Big Show joins commentary as The Miz goes against Sheamus.

The match sees Sheamus get the victory, when he hits The Miz with a Brogue Kick for the 3-count.

After an interaction backstage involving Dolph Ziggler, CM Punk, and Vickie Guerrero, in which it is revealed that “Team Punk” is now “Team Ziggler”, and an interaction elsewhere backstage involving William Regal and Sheamus, Eve Torres and Aksana take on Layla and Kaitlyn in a Tag Team match.

The match sees Kaitlyn get the victory for her team, when she hits Eve reverse DDT for the 3-count.

Now, Kofi Kingston is pitted against Alberto Del Rio in a match which sees Kingston get the victory, when he takes advantage of the distraction provided by Randy Orton’s music hitting and rolls up Del Rio for the 3-count.

Afterwards, Del Rio turns around and is hit with an RKO from Randy Orton.

Next up, “Team CoBro” Santino Marella and “Long Island Iced Z” Zack Ryder go against Primo and Epico (accompanied by Rosa Mendes) in a Tag Team match which sees Marella get the victory for his team, when he hits Epico with The Cobra for the 3-count.

After hyping the tag team match to take place later on in this episode, “Funkasaurus” Brodus Clay (accompanied by Cameron and Naomi) takes on Wade Barrett in a match which sees Barrett get the victory, when he hits Clay with the Souvenir for the 3-count.

After once again hyping Jerry “The King” Lawler’s return next week, Heath Slater (accompanied by Jinder Mahal) is pitted against Jey Uso (accompanied by Jimmy Uso) in a match which sees Slater get the victory, when he hits Jey with a lifting DDT (which fans may recognise as the Edgecution, though Cole informs us that Slater calls it the “Smash Hit”) for the 3-count.

Now, CM Punk makes his way to the ring with Paul Heyman, where he talks about how he defeated Ryback at Hell In A Cell, and says that people have tried to taint his victory and accused him and Heyman of having something to do with referee Brad Maddox’s actions.

He points out that Maddox said earlier that he acted alone, and says that “Team Punk” is now being demoted to “Team Ziggler” at Survivor Series. Punk says that Vince McMahon is also continuing his favourite tradition of screwing his most talented performer by putting him in a Triple Threat match with John Cena and Ryback for the WWE Championship.

Punk says that he has proved that he is better than everybody else for 351 days, and has set the bar at an unattainable level, so at Survivor Series he promises that he will celebrate 364 consecutive days and continue to prove that he is the Best In The World.

Dolph Ziggler and CM Punk (accompanied by Paul Heyman) go against John Cena and Ryback in a Tag Team match which sees Ryback get the victory for his team, when he hits Punk with the Shell-Shock for the 3-count.

John Cena and Ryback face off against each other while Ryback chants “Feed Me More” along with the crowd, as Raw goes off the air.
