SD Fusion: Victims Of Circumstance

by Firefly on 6th June 2011

The 3rd June 2011 episode of Friday Night SmackDown! starts with a video recapping the events of last week in which Sheamus became the number one contender for the World Heavyweight Championship, followed by Christian taking on Mark Henry to kick off this edition of the show.

The match ends with Christian hitting Henry with the Killswitch for the 3-count and the victory. Afterwards, rolls a clip of the match last week and talks about how he had Sheamus beaten behind the back of the referee, and though he doesn’t blame the referee, he still wants what he feels that he has earned – the chance to become the new World Heavyweight Champion.

Teddy Long takes the opportunity to make his presence known as he makes his way out onto the stage and talks about how he has already seen the footage and that he agrees with Christian that he is a victim of circumstance.

However he ignores Christian’s poll of the crowd of what they’d like to do as he says that though he feels his pain, he can’t as Sheamus won the match, and waving off Christian’s suggestion that it be a triple threat match instead, he appoints Christian as the Special Guest Referee for the World Heavyweight Championship match later on to make sure that there are no more circumstances to fall victim to.

Next, Alicia Fox and Tamina (accompanied by Rosa Mendes) are pitted against Kaitlyn and AJ (accompanied by Natalya) in a match which sees Tamina get the victory for her team when she hits AJ with a samoan drop for the 3-count.

After a video recapping the match between Daniel Bryan and Cody Rhodes last week and the aftermath, Rhodes is in the ring and he talks about how the “winning isn’t everything” is a sentiment spouted by losers, and that Bryan didn’t beat him.

While his assistants hand out paper bags, he says that the differences between him and Bryan are endless, but unlike Bryan he won’t sit in the audience and watch him do anything, but Bryan will sit in the audience and sooner or later will watch Rhodes capture the World Heavyweight Championship – and it will be like many of the crowd, with a paper bag on his head.

After a video recapping the events of last week involving The Great Khali, Jinder Mahal, and Ranjin Singh and an interview in which Jinder seems only to indicate that Khali will be accompanied him in his in-ring début, Mahal (accompanied by Khali) goes against Yoshi Tatsu in a match which sees him hit Tatsu with a full nelson slam for the 3-count and victory.

Afterwards, Khali enters the ring and applies the vice grip to Tatsu’s head under the direction of Mahal, who yells encouragement and then celebrates with him when he releases it.

After a video promoting the Capitol Punishment PPV, Ezekiel Jackson takes on Wade Barrett for the Intercontinental Championship in a match which sees Jackson get the victory but Barrett retain the title as a result of a count-out.

Afterwards, Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel make their way to the ring and are convinced to enter the ring with Barrett who seems to indicate that all three of them will attack at the same time. However, Barrett stops short of entering when the others do, and walks away leaving them to take on Jackson alone, as they are thrown out of the ring and Jackson stands tall.

Backstage, Sheamus is interviewed about whether he will change his approach upon learning that Christian will be the Special Guest Referee, but he says that he won’t as he’s not the one that Christian should be upset with, and as a matter of fact it’s Orton who should be concerned.

Sheamus stops Christian and approaches him, he claims that he would have been more than happy to have made it a triple threat match, but Christian calls him a brutal liar and says that he hopes that he does a better job in his match than he does lying to his face. He says that he will be calling the match later on right down the middle, but Sheamus should worry about Randy Orton, not him.

Back in the arena, Daniel Bryan is pitted against Ted DiBiase in a match during which Cody Rhodes makes his way to ringside with his assistants carrying paper bags, but which sees Bryan get the victory when he forces DiBiase to tap out to the LeBelle Lock.

Afterwards, Rhodes immediately enters the ring and attacks Bryan, with DiBiase joining in once he has recovered a little, but Sin Cara’s music hits and he makes his way toe the ring and makes the save, forcing both attackers out of the ring with a hurricanrana and flying headscissors.

After a video recapping R-Truth’s actions on Raw (click here for our Raw report), Johnny Curtis Is shown and he says that he was promised a WWE Tag Team title shot with his former Pro R-Truth, but it obviously isn’t going to happen.

Instead, he says that he is going to do what any WWE Superstar would do, as he then pours milk (some over his own head) and cries – obviously suggesting that he’s crying over spilled milk.

Next up, Christian is the Special Guest Referee as Sheamus takes on Randy Orton for the World Heavyweight Championship in a match which at one point sees Sheamus accidentally knock Christian down when Orton moves out of the way.

Sheamus hits Orton with the Brogue Kick and Christian counts to two before he acts like his arm hurts, which causes Sheamus to confront him, but this costs him as Christian replies to the confrontation with a shot to the face which leads into an RKO from Orton for the 3-count.

Afterwards, Randy Orton celebrates in the ring until Christian knocks him down with the World Heavyweight Championship to the face, with him telling the downed Orton that he can beat him, before leaving the ring with the title and raising it in the air when he reaches the stage, as SmackDown! goes off the air.
